Scirocco Central

I lowered My 61 plate Scirocco 2.0 Tsi dsg using the HR lowering springs (From 1021kg variant) 2 days ago. The problem I have is that the gaps either side of rear wheels - between the bottom of fender and top of wheel seems to be different - different levels, 10mm to be precise. Id taken the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the bottom of the fender both rear sides. The side where the petrol cap is seems to be higher than the other passenger rear side arch from the wheel. There doesn't seem to be any way of making fine adjustments on the rear section of suspension? anyone else who has fitted these springs had the same problem? and if so the solution to getting a even lowered look. I assume there is no camber to the drive/road you are doing the measuring on...

It can take some time for the suspension to settle - to speed it up you need to get some weight in the rear and do some miles - a couple of fat friends in the back or a tonne of stuff in the boot will do it

Give it time to settle. I had similar issues with height when i first had mine fitted.

Give it a week or two with some driving and then re-measure.

Same issue when I fitted Eibach, after a good 50 or so miles it settled fine. Go over a few speed humps to get the suspension to compress.

Is balancing also required after fitting h&r springs? I'm going to be fitting mine soon. Also, if balancing is required, do people recommend doing it straight after fitment or after its settled?

Re-balancing of wheels is not required if you change springs. After a few weeks, once the suspension has settled, it's recommended you get a 4 wheel geometry check / set up.

I think your getting confused with alignment? You don't need wheel balancing done but you will need alignment and you should do it when the springs are installed.

give it a little time to settle and make sure the road is completely flat where you have parked, normal roads have a hump profile to aid the water draining to the gutter and this will mess up ride heights, also if the car empty? boot empty? as again weight on one side in the boot or seats in the car in different positions can alter the ride height (washer bottle full or empty??)

Wait until the car is completely settled to get the alignment done. I would definitely recommend doing it , mine was well out after lowering on H&R.
