Selected Sport - Got Neutral?! DSG Box

Hello,

Came into a roundabout that was clear the other day, and wanted to have a bit of fun coming out the other side. I slid the DSG gearstick into sport and my car just revved as if it was in neutral. No forward power.

I went back to Drive, still nothing, then down to neutral and back into drive and got forward power back.

What happened here? Is it anything to be worried about?

Sounds like a false neutral. Used to get them on the bike on the odd occasion. Not had it on my dsg 'Rocco though and don't know if it's an issue or not, just know that it's not uncommon on bikes and their sequential boxes.

I think he may mean 6 or 7 speed DSG but the 2.0 TSI only comes in 6 speed.

IIRC there was a software update around the time of the early 59's 6-speed DSG to correct instances of uncommanded neutrals. To be on the safe side I'd get a dealer to double-check you've had all the required updates. If your car never had that then it's one potentially dangerous beastie!

Ah of course, and yeah - 6 speed!

Nice one, cheers. I'll email a local VW garage see if I can book that in. I guess there's no easy way to check at home....
