Once you've had it.......

All this Xenon talk got me thinking..
Personally I don't see why the absence of Xenons is such a deal breaker - maybe that's because I never had them on a car yet.
There are some options that I'd never go back on such as ..
aircon (although standard on most cars now)
heated leather. (I had unheated leather once - cold in winter)
18" Alloys (Anything else seems too small now)
Steering Wheel Controls (would be a bind to fiddle directly with the stereo)
LW (For the Ashes..)
you get the idea........

The xenon thing,it depends where you live/drive.Any car with xenon, heck a milkfloat,is faster form of travel than a scirocco with halogen, out here in the dark, when it's raining and foggy. If you live in a cul-de-sac and drive to work in traffic,on dual carriage ways and urban roads, then you're wasting your money on xenons.Out in the country, they affect the speed you can safely travel very considerably, conering lights are a major advantage too.
They cut through so much better than any halogen lights, and when you're driving unlit roads,at night, every night, have an enormous advantage in terms of visibility, and therefore safety and speed of travel, not to mention fatigue. When you're actually relying on the light the car produces to see where you're going they significantly reduce fatigue,it's more like driving in day light in terms of eye and brain fatigue.Halogen get's fatiguing very quickly.
You asked...

Fair play.
I live in the sticks but tend to stick to the same roads, so I know where all the bends are

Right now i wish they didn't make a difference to me,(it'd be a hell of a lot easier just to delete them) but they do.Honestly,i'd rather have a different car with than a Scirocco without, and i really want the scirocco. It's really annoying! Also,if i'm spending that much i don't want to compromise on the spec when i could have waited and got exatly what i want,i wouldn't be happy with it in the end.I'm rambling.Anyways, looks like i'm probably going to wait for the scirocco with xenons,to get exactly the car i want, and in the mean time see what my dealer/volkswagen can come up with.

I emailed a few VW OEM sellers on ebay regarding Xenon’s; nobody can really say when they will get Xenon’s for the Scirocco.
I've settled without Xenon’s, if I really need them I will wait till someone like Hella brings out VW approved Xenon’s for the Scirocco - we're not talking just bulbs it will be the full unit including all the kit you need - made for RHD vehicles - I didn't realise one side is slightly brighter than the other depending on LHD or RHD; some sort of regulation.
I also sacrificed Sat Nav with my new order, just been on eBay, a few RDS510's with Sat Nav, again I will wait a while till the units are closer to £600.
Cruise will be fitted at the dealer for £160 inc VAT, saving me £50 from Factory!
Can't wait for my car, going to be awesome. I'm up north in Scotland, not seen a single one on the road let alone a Candy White one!

Im a bit worried that there's going to be a glut of them on the road soon, every review says they are going to sell loads of them, and when i phoned the dealer today to ask about build date, he said that demand was huge.
Hope it doesnt become the new me too A3 / 1 Series!!

Albertz,
I could be wrong but I do not see demand being huge as all dealers are struggling at the moment I would guess. I agree that it may be desirable but I bet an awful lot of potential buyers are holding off due to confidence with the economy. If demand is huge, how come my dealers stock vehicle is still sitting around after nearly 3 weeks, fairly decent spec as well.
I am personally hoping that the market is kept tight to aid residuals like what happened initially to the MKV GTi so that I can get a good price against the R version when they bring it out
Mr VW, take note of the above !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your right, but didnt somebody else on here say they are not allowed to sell the display / stock vehicle? Its just that everyone thats reviewed it, everyone who's selling it has said demand has been very high.
R version??? hope they improve the colour options for that one!

VW have planned to build 3000 for this year and 9000 for 2009 which is not a lot in the scheme of things for a mass produced car.

I was going to retro fit Xennons to the car and having helped a friend fit them to his car its actually very easy, but to be honest after owning the Rocco with the standard lights I'm not going to bother now as the standard lights are fantastic, also I know they wont dazzle other drivers!

I fitted Philips Extreme power bulbs to my Mk5 and was impressed by the improvement - yeh I know they're not Xenons but might be a temporary upgrade until you can fit the real things . Just a thought..
