Scirocco Central

Hi

We have literally just bought a Scirocco. The 1.4tsi 122 (2012) and it's on the 17" wheels.

We fancy lowering it, but without spending much, so are just looking at lowering springs. We will probably get the H&R ones.(-35mm)

But, I would like to know from people with Sciroccos who have lowered theirs with just springs, what were the effects to the ride quality???

Does it become bouncy? bottom out? spoil bump control or handling??

Changing the dampers is often recommended but this would NOT be an option for us.

If the springs leave it driving like poo then I wont bother.

ALSO, after fitting, does the car require a full 4 wheel aleinment, or just standard tracking adjustments?

I can't comment on the H&Rs as I've only ever used Eibach on my cars. I recently fitted some to my Scirocco and I'm very pleased with the ride, it's not bouncy at all but it' is slightly firmer which I like. I have 19" wheels on mine and I use the ACC in sport which stiffens up the shocks and it's still comfortable.

I would recommend a 4 wheel alignment as mine was way out after fitting the springs.

Been looking into the Eibach one's since I first wrote this post.
They might be better for us as its mainly my wife's car and the drop looks a little more subtle on the Eibach's. But maybe too subtle, I'm not sure.
I guess the Eibachs make the car look like it should of done from the factory.

I have eibach's on mine, taken a couple of months to fully settle but makes a huge difference in appearance compared to standard, the ride quality is marginally effected in a positive way IMHO :-)

the Eibachs sound about right then. Just want it to ride much like standard but a bit lower.

Will fit and get a 4-wheel aleinment after a couple of weeks

That's why I went for the Eibach, nice and subtle and gives a nice factory look. I was parked next to an unlowered Rocc the other week and that 25-30mm drops makes a massive difference.

Can someone tell me which ones they have exactly and maybe show the drop with a few pics?

I have to drive up a pavement and its a little steep so not sure if I will ruin the Roc.

Honestly you'll be fine with lowering springs mate - i have H&R's on mine and i have no trouble with speed bumps or kirbs.
