Plastic Scuttle / Firewall rain cover removal

Post by SMB »

Hi, finally as a new owner, just wanted to solve the usual rattle from the cover on the suspension strut, and try the car without the soundaktor as I do find the artifical noise wearing. Having read various forums it seems easy to remove the rubber trip, slide apart the 2 piece cover and lift out!

Sadly mine seems firmly stuck, they can slide apart slight but get trapped under the wings of the car, can anyone help advise exact how the should be removed please?

thanks in advance

You have to lift them upwards (They pull upwards away from the windscreen and a plastic strip remains attached to the screen a the bottom that has a ridge that keeps the covers in place).

If you didn't know already you have to remove the wiper arms. A tip to remove them is undo the bolts but not fully then wiggle until free!

Make sure you put them in maintenance mode and mark with some masking tape where the wipers sit on the screen so you can re-attach them in the correct position!

If you use enough force upwards they should just pull away. I would recommend removing the wipers first as the force you need to remove the scuttle could cause it to catch on the wiper and snap!
