bluetooth advice/question

Post by Hiccup »

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help, i have the 2009 TDI Scirocco which has the RCD510. Looking to get Bluetooth but completly in the dark with what to go for. i know i dont want a new head unit, have looked at the Parrot systems but dont really know where id place the unit, and dont want to ruin the look of the car. The reason i was drawn to the parrot system is i know you can get the converter which enables you to use the steering wheel controls...

can anyone make any reccomendations please?

I have the same as you, I fitted this item on ebay, oem fit mind you I had to rearrange the mic wire in/out the stereo because there are not enough pins on the rcd 510HU.

Item Number; 271015844153

I can help you fit it if needed, you will have to code through Vagcom to work through the Steering wheel, I live in Rugby.

Regards, Colin.

PS; took me 1hr to fit.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for the reply. Do you find the sound quality good? Also can you use the steering wheel controls? Unsure if this would work with the IPhone 5 too...

does the mfd act as the phone book, and if so can you make calls using the steering controls once on the move? it doesnt appear to have voice control, only downside. Love the fact theres no drilling or additional products in the dash though. thanks Colin i think a friend also has vagcom :)

on MFD you have phone book, missed/last calls, dial number, its very good, you don't even need to pick your phone up at all.

I put the control box behind the heater controls & run the mic wire drivers side, the pillar surround just pulls off, the airbag is higher up near the visor in the pillar.

Good luck, you'll love it OEM. :hyper:
