Tubo Lag?

For the last two weeks I have noticed an intermittent problem with the car. If it is cold and in second gear travelling at low revs as you go to accelerate you get a but of lag and the car will what seems like shuddering. It will do this until you accelerate a little harder and then it will go. Once the car has reached temperature it doesn't seem to cause this problem, but I never drive far enough or in the same conditions to tell completely.

No warning/engine lights have appeared. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's an off boost issue with DSG that I've noticed recently as the gearbox has adapted. I'm going to reset the adaption tables on the gearbox and get it to learn better manners, not quite sure how, probably ragging it everywhere!

Turbo engines can be slow picking up on partial throttle when cold, but we dial that little problem out when building the new maps. Most turbos can be sorted by fuelling a little more off-boost, as a means of smoothing out turbo-lag. Most remappers will do this, also the better tuning box guys i.e. the programmable ones.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I was thinking about remapping, my only concern was that it is coming to the end of the warranty period so wanted to get it sorted should it require it.

Mine does exactly this too.

It seems to come about after i had a K&N panel filter in for a while.

I figured in the end that its degraded the MAF sensor.

Like you said, it runs fine when warmed up so probably have to live with it.

Trying to get a dealer to sort it out is like flogging a dead horse.

remember the dealer is the brand, its the guys in the back shop who know but mostly they don`t and have to email VW

Don`t think the "dealer" is full of people who know everything with your car. Mostly the tech guys are very young(mostly I say as some garages are brilliant) and are learning under the badge of a dealer. If its a problem then mostly they email VW HQ and get them to send them the answers.
