Using DSG

Hi guys

I know this may seem like a ridiculous question but I was just wondering if you's have any tips/suggestions when using DSG/Auto.

I have always driven a manual car so although auto makes things much simpler there's still things I'm wondering about, for example;

When reversing is it good to switch straight to D while the car is still rolling back? then let the car (without putting any rev's down) pull itself forward? - little things like that I'm wondering about really so if anyone like I say has any tips or anything then will be much appreciated - if I'm asking a load of rubbish then just let me know ha

Nothing special actually.

You will soon enough find out that it crawls forward if You do not hold Your foot on the brake at the light ;)

When changing between forward and reverse, it is always a good idea to stop completely - regardless of transmission.

If you by accident, selected N , just don't accelerate. Let the rev drop and then re-select.

I use the auto D in traffic jams or motorway, but use the + and - on A roads. i like the choice of gears and the paddle shifts are really useful.

when you appraoch a round about, be careful if you are on manual mode. Instinctively you would drop the gears as you would with a standard manual gearbox, but the DSG drops them for you as you brake. This is one situation where you cannot choose to stay on a 4th for example. It will decide. Often i end up revving like crazy on 2nd because when i brake from speed, i don't know what gear it has dropped to. I have to upshift quickly to avoid wheel spinning.

If you are in a hurry , click on S and put on Sport on the ACC. Enjoy!

One detail not everybody knows:

If You push the gas pedal to the floor, it gears down to give You some go :)
But if You press hard on the pedal, it will go 2 mm more, and it feels a little like a push-button. This is some sort of Oh-Shit! function, that immediately gives You max power - It will downshift till it reaches approx. 5.000 rpm, and go like Ohhhh!!!
Not very comfortable, and no good for a smooth flow on the track - but it will get You out of a bind.
