Just changed the cabin air/pollen filter and man! Never been so far backward!

I was like a contortionist! The positioning of this component was bad enough but that pieces of thin foam? WTF, why could they not use a plastic pieces where you just slot in or pull out?

With this foam cover out, its really tricky to tuck it back inside, with the edge going inside the plastic side wall of the centre console (The bit by your passenger's right shin).

I will have to leave this for another day.

Really ?, mine must be different as it literally took me 2 minutes to take mine out ?

I allowed 10 mins for peeps which includes prep (newspaper down) for catching the "bits" that fall out and tidying up afterwards. But like Shaun says.... two mins for the actual removal/re-fit. Mind you, had practice as I've done it twice now.

You were putting the pollen filter foam onto the plastic carrier first, ie. slotting it on? Then its a slight twisting turn anticlockwise starting with the base pointing slightly into the centreline of the footwell with an upward lift. Then slide and lock the plastic plate. The foam being located on the plastic carrier takes care of it.

The foam under dash cover sheet goes into the gap between the outlet pipes and lower dash lip at an angle of 50'. Then smooth it over the pipe outlet and push the forward area up above the floor carpet edge right under the dash. Finally tuck the bit by the footwell light home up above the floor carpet edge. (Then finally the plastic finger bolts.)

to be honest, the act of fitting the filter was simple enough but it was the position of the component thats annoying.

It was my first time so i had to get down, upside down, to view the area and make sure i don't take off the wrong part. On my prev. car, you just drop the glove box and swap the filter.

More annoying was that piece of foam and the way it was fitted. why not just being a piece of hard plastic held on by those 2 screws?

I might just cut that right side bit off rather than tucking it back in.
