Tapping wiperblades

Hi all,

Been having a total nightmare with the wiperblades tapping. Have gone through two sets of Bosch Aerotwins now and they both do it after 6 months and just bought an own brand alternative from Autobulbs Direct and it does it as soon as you fit them.

Before I take it back to VW is there anything else I can try or should be aware of? Has anyone had the issue resolved by VW?

Thanks

Hi
When you say tapping - do you mean the blades are not wiping smoothly and juddering across the screen. I had a similar issue when I had applied a rain repellant similar to Rain-x running the OEM wipers.
In this case I would suggest you try to remove any contamination from the glass. Preferably use an automotive glass polish such as Autoglym which is readily available from Halfords etc.

Mine jump and slap on the screen when the passenger wiper is horizontal and the drivers one is vertical, did this when car was a month or so old and the dealer replaced them, they've started doing it again but it's going for its interim service next week so see what they say then.

It's tapping on the glass on the drivers side when in the down position. Blasted thing.

Are you 100% sure that is what is tapping, my car and lots of others have a rattle that seems to come from wipers (confirmed by putting wipers on and it disappears)
however it is the plastic cowl inside the engine compartment that rattles against the suspension top..........fixed with a foam pad between plastic and metal parts.

Definately the wipers. Changing them has worked in the past but only for a while. The tapping does stop when the wipers are on.

Mine does this too. But only in cold weather ...?!?! I did the foam/felt mod under the plastic cover around the engine bay but it didn't fix it. I changed for a different wiper blade. That didn't fix it either.

It definately stops when the wipers are moving.

2 years with the car and I haven't been able to fix it. VW checked it twice during services but said they couldn't hear it.

3 years and mine will still rattle on occasions, your right about the temp having a effect, useless dealers always deny its a known problem and if there is a tech bulletin about it..............

Foam defo helps though........

There isn't one specifically for this. Only the smearing problem, which has been discussed fairly well in topics sometime ago. This problem doesn't appear to be that.
