ohhhh, I bet it's the folding mirrors... This is such a handy feature, I can't work out if I'm more excited about getting the car or seeing if I will have the option ha ha
...decided, the car

think it must be a combo of folding mirrors and build date. Mine has the folding option and was built wk 7. Mirror down works, but only when the mirror adjustment knob is on L, otherwise it doesn't drop. Quite useful as sometimes you don't want it to. Neat feature to help avoid alloy scrapes.

There is a discussion on this theme on MOTOR-TALK.de : "Mirror Package lowering passenger mirror?"
Google traclation:

As for November 06 the answer was:
Have the following message today from VW receive:
Dear Mr. ...,
Thank you for your e-mail. About your interest in the Scirocco we are very happy!
For the long duration of treatment we again apologize to you.
The passenger mirror is cut from next week will be an integral part of the mirror package for the Scirocco.
On the ... new car configurator, the passenger mirror cut in the next days show.

So it's now part of the Folding Mirrors?

Perhaps, maybe somebody without folding mirrors who's had a recent build could confirm? I think if you look back to the start of this thread then folk thought it was a combo of options xenons, mirrors, etc etc, but perhaps it's something as simple as build date alone?

as I trawl through the instruction book over the next few days I'll see if I can work out a definitive set if instructions on getting it going. I do have folding mirrors though.

All I can say that in continental Europe this feature was included with Mirror Pack from 02.02.2008 onwards.
It wasn't there in Jan for example.

I was speaking to the dealers about this when i ordered my car a couple of weeks ago. Apparently the option is part of the Folding mirrors pack.

I have folding mirrors but my MFD convenience menu does not have a mirror down option.
So I'm even more confused now.

If this was added as a software thing after mine was built does anyone know if it could be added at the dealership with a couple of VAGCOM tweaks?

I was told by 3 sep workshop's thats its a factory fitted option, in the Manual it does have a * against it and at the bottom it says something along the lines of depends on the spec.
I have no idea honestly what you need, for a while I believed it was Xenons.

Maybe we need a poll to see if we can nail down what spec items have it.

Same spec as mine (apart from colour and dynaudio - I should add my Cruise was retro-fitted), I don't know what my Build week was but I know it was the 2nd week of September and I don't have the feature and I must admit I did get over not having it a few months ago, I'm only getting involved again as I would like everyone to get it from 2009 onwards but we still can't determine what you need to get it.
So far I have learned that it's not something can be turned on via VAGCOM, the option is there but for it to work the car needs a specific electrical module which is factory fitted only.

Mine has the mirror down function - disabled it in the menu though as it makes parking on my drive more difficult - very good for normal parking spaces though.
