Sorry to hear that bro...
The scenario will most likely be just like in my case...if a breakage of piston is proven. Cylinder block out, complex resurfacing and new complete pistons...or a new so called short engine provided by VW...if you're eligible and have good relations with stealers.
In the first (and more difficult) case be prepared for some 2+ thousand euros, assuming you'll be able to get it to some experienced cnc specialist to work on cylinders. I needed to take my cylinder block some 150 km out of town to the guy, it took him a week but the result is still excellent...fingers crossed. He literally had a big hall with at least 20 cnc machines and plenty of V8 and V12 cylinder blocks here and there so he probably knew what he was going to do:)
I've done some 20.000 hassle free km since the repair.
