MY10 cars are from build dates week 23 of 2009 onwards, therefore based on your build date and first registered date I would think your car is one of the last MY09s.

You can confirm the Model Year from the VIN.

Thanks for getting back to me Cuprabob. Still confused though. RW1's post above states that the AV code means it is a MY2010 car and each MY starts around week 14, hence the confusion.

I have found another site that states the model year runs from August 1st to July 31st: http://www.clubvw.org.au/vwvin" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This would make more sense as it would mean that my Scirocco was completed on Friday April 29th 2010 and was first registered on June 13th 2010.

I've always known it as week 23 model year changeover and week 46 for minor updates and that ties in with my current car and my previous VW. In reality it doesnt't really matter unless you are looking for a specific feature that was introduced at that time.

Edit: Based on the information in the following link, it should be pretty easy to confirm if your car in a MY10, as if it is, it will have the updated cluster and steering wheel.

Mine is actually a MY2010.5 as it has all of the MY2010 spec changes and the visual gear change recommendation for manual gearboxes displayed in multifunction computer but does not have the flat tyre indicator fitted. That would tie in with it being made week 18 of 2010 , Friday April 29th or Friday May 7th, depending on which week numbering system you look at
