So I finally got my car back. Faulty wiper arm linkage apparently.

Took two weeks to figure that out!

Well at least I'm rattle free.

I have a rattle problem. The sound is very very similar to that one in your movie: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =2&t=17517" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In my car rattling is especially noticeable at full throttle between 3000 and 3400 rpm. It is terrible! Sometimes it disappears for a couple of days, but in general I can hear it everyday. However it can be noticed only inside the car (outside the engine is too loud at ~3100 rpm ;-) ).
I went through the whole thread (and those which were linked) and still I am not sure, how should I fix this.
When I grab the wiper and shake it, push it up/down I cannot reproduce the rattle. Nor when I try to shake this plastic cover below the windscreen. How did you fix it? What exactly is the source of that rattle?
For 3 month already I have been trying to recognize the source of rattling and now, as I found your topic, I hope I’ll fix it!
Kind regards,
Tom

HI SciroccoPL,

Have you tired this fix i posted earlier in this thread?

There was already the Velcro in there but was looking at bit worse for wear.
So I added in some anti rattle tape.
I could reproduce the rattle by pushing down on the wiper in the center of the windscreen. After pushing stone anti rattle tape up there seems to have gone! Only time will tell though!
If my fix doesn't work be off to the dealer for them to do it properly. Should be covered under warranty if you give the TPI.

I haven't tried to take the scuttle panel off yet, because it didn't seem to produce any sounds while shaking it. My Scirocco is MY2010.

Seems I have to completely take this off. I don't know how to do it, I'll try tomorow hopefully I will not crack it...

BTW - in your cars guys, was this rattle sound noticable all the time or only at some rpms/speed?

I was able to slide off the side without the windscreen wipers going through it.
And painfully reach around to the area.
But if you have the correct tools i think it will be much easier to remove the wipers and just lift the panels off.

Hey don't think it's related to the issue in this thread.

It may be related to the wastegate rattle. Not sure if it affect the 160
