Re: IPod cable
Ok my dealer is adamant that you get the USB cable as standard, but not the iPod cable.
Iroc - can you please advise me where on the price list the cable is listed as standard so I can refer this back to the dealer? On the guide I have seen the interface is standard, but the way I read it the implication is that the 'interface' will provide connection for an external source (e.g. iPod or MP3 player).
Those who found they got both cables, can they confirm its not something thier dealer is throwing in for them as a freebie. I am already getting a great deal so not sure I will be able swing another penny off the prices.
If it comes down to it, I will pay the £25 quid for the cable, but as others seem to have got it for free, it would nice to see some standard policy across all the dealers.
Anyone got any decent arguements I can use to get my cable for free?

Page 5 of the 'Effective from 20.6.2008' pricelist - Main items of standard specification
Grey box on the left of the page, bottom line
MDI (Multi Device Interface) With USB and IPOD connection cables.
Thats quite clear to me, you should get both cables.

Re: IPod cable
the moment i showed that page to my dealer, he said no problem and that hed make sure one was with my car, so thats what you need to show them.
There are some problems with the old pricelist that can be quite misleading but its definately standard.

Re: IPod cable
Just picked up my FREE cable from the dealer seems to work well. The space in the armrest is just deep enough to hold the Touch!
Re: IPod cable
On the vwaudiforum a guy on there is having trouble with his dealer insisting he has to pay £25 if the car does not come with it installed
Giving the excuse that VW has the right to change the spec at any time!

Re: IPod cable
I'm getting one for free in a few days time when I go to pick up my car
The guy has a case if he ordered before the new price list came out, but maybe the dealer is just being arsey with him for example he may have already promised free mats and hes thinking what more does he want?
I've been told I'm getting mats for free, my dealer mentioned they got the premium ones in stock, hinted I would get those but I'm not sure.

Re: IPod cable
If anyone is having a problem with their dealer tell the dealer it was all clarified in a bulletin from Volkswagen to dealers only, using the ‘Desktop’ communication suite on Aug 14th; ref. no. 0510-08. It is free and should be supplied with the car.
p.s. rehmondo what build week were you and I assume your dealer has told you 12 days to go?

Re: IPod cable
I had ordered the same spec minus the DAB and Cruise but instead with Xenons, Sat Nav and in Black Pearl. From week 48 it jumped to week 9 scheduled, so I cancelled my order and bought a demo that will arrive in the UK some time next week possibly as early as Monday so my dealer told me - car is on ship as we speak. It won't go in the showroom and will be put aside for me nowBagwafu wrote:p.s. rehmondo what build week were you and I assume your dealer has told you 12 days to go?

Once it arrives the garage will fit Cruise, Premium Door Sills, Alu Pedals, remove the badges and give it the Auto Glym treatment, so I should pick it up around 10-15 days time, it all really depends on me selling my old car in that time.
Posted it on Autotrader earlier tonight.

Nice spec btw. How much are the door sills (and do you have a part no?)?

Re: IPod cable
Thanks mate, I imagine the wait is unbearable for you, the dealer emailed me their internal blue build spec*** on the car and it said "Status: on ship", you should maybe ask your dealer about it to find out more.Bagwafu wrote:Nice spec btw. How much are the door sills (and do you have a part no?)?
*** Term he used was something like blue spec/print can't remember but it was blue something.
Extra Costs....
Cruise £160 fitted
Pedals £88 fitted
Premium Sills £104 fitted
Auto Glym £249
The part no. is in the new price list that you can download, but here it is anyways... Premium Door Sill trims - 1K8 071 305 @ £72.34 inc VAT exc Fitting
Normal ones that don't say Scirocco on them are... Door Sill trims - 1K8 071 310 @ £51.06 inc VAT exc Fitting

Car is now Sold!!!!! BMW 7 Series for now as nice and big but holding out for something a little special as my toy

Re: IPod cable
Just got a reply from the guy on the VWAudi forum the ref no did work eventually !
Contacted the dealer today and quoted the ref no to them and again they denied all knowledge until I told them to check and to there amazement they found it. The salesman felt a right p***ock and went very red in the face.
