DSG BM Brake Pedal Movement

I maybe going bonkers, but I'm sure this has only started in the last week. The break pedal seems to move about 5mm before it meets any resistance. This however does not happen all the time and most of the time it is smooth. There also seems to be a lot of play horizontally.

Is this normal or my first fault? :cry:
