No Sound Through Speakers (DYNAUDIO)

Post by Ba2025scirocco »

Hi all i have recently removed a carplay unit from my Scirocco as it has completely died, so i have reinstall the OEM headunit however once i have reinstalled the unit there is no sound coming through the speakers but the radio is on and working as it should visually. The carplay unit i had didnt use the Dynaudio system i am pretty sure but before this was installed the OEM radio worked fine and had no trouble with it at all other than not have carplay. So at the moment i have no radio to listen to until i can sort a new carplay unit or sort the original which i would prefer for the time being. Does anybody have any idea as to what could cause this as i have absolutely no idea about anything to do with sound systems and what no so if anyone could be of help i would appreciate alot.

THANKS!

I believe the Dynaudio system uses active speakers powered by the Dynaudio amp. I'm not sure on how all that's wired until I pull apart the doors and have a poke about.

Most Carplay/Android Auto units don't support the Dynaudio amp. I've found it hard to come by information, but the best I found was that someone had detected a signal sent (possibly by Canbus) from OEM units to turn the amp on.

That said, Eonon claim to have a Dynaudio-compatible unit. I've heard mixed user reports. Some say they only got the front channels working. I contacted a guy who was selling a Dynaudio-equipped Scirocco, and that appeared to have an Eonon unit. He said it was plug-and-play

If your Carplay unit was NOT using the Dynaudio amp, then there would have had to be wiring changes to the speakers and crossovers installed (and possibly different speaker units). You don't say if you installed that, had it installed, or perhaps got the car with it.

It's my view that those physical wiring changes will need to be reversed if you want to put back an OEM unit. So I'd suggest trying to look into that.

My background is a keen interest in audio, and having previously installed a fully active system with a custom-designed sub, etc., in my Golf. I now have a Scirocco with Dynaudio, but haven't got enough confidence or knowledge yet to install a different head unit (RNS510 currently).
