I've tried to send a couple of messages but when I click submit, they stay in my outbox and don't appear in the sent messages folder. How do I get messages to actually send?

Sadly replaced now by an F-Type.

They stay in the outbox until they are read by the recipient.
That allows you to edit or delete them while they're waiting to be read.
