Metallic Cooling Down Sound - Exhaust

Post by dan_aspire »

Had my Scirocco GT for 3 weeks now and consistently has a noticeable tink tink sound, similar to that of an exhaust cooling down.

I was running regular unleaded and since switched to Tesco Momentum and not really made any difference.

This sound is made when the engine is turned off or just sat idling after pulling up. Just wondering if this is okay or something to be concerned about? My old Fiesta ST180 made a similar sound after thrashing it up and down the motorway hard but this is with short journeys too with the Scirocco.

Scirocco GT 2015 1.4Tsi (122) 16500 miles.

Cheers

The charcoal canister can give a loud ticking sound under normal operation. More noticeable just after you switch the engine off.
