need help , stage 1 clutch for scirocco 1.4 tsi 160 hp

Post by ehab »

the clutch started to slip 5 days ago , first i noticed that on odd gears 3 - 5 -7 and when i kick down full throttle i feel that the car hardly changes gears and the power loss .

my car is 1.4 tsi 160 DSG stock 100%

i am planning to have revo stage 2 software so i will upgrade intake , exhaust , intercooler , and spark plugs . And as my clutch started to slip so i wanna ask which sport clutch kit is the best choice for me and stage 1 or 2 ? and is there any thing concerned to the clutch should i get it too ?

There is only 1 aftermarket clutch pack available for the 7 Speed dry clutch DQ200 DSG :

http://www.tmg-performance.com/en/produ ... evlar.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also that is only available for DSG boxes manufactured up until mid 2011.

Usually it shouldn't be necessary to change the clutch even for a stage 2 - but if you have one of the older clutch packs (pre 2012/13) then it was made of a weaker clutch material that is far more prone to wearing out and slipping.

thanks you a lot bro :) , i was searching for this topic week ago but without result , all clutches i had found were for 2.0 tsi :D

You said that cars pre (2012/13) had weaker clutch. My car is 2011 so i had this weaker clutch. My question is Can i get the newer clutch that is in models (2012/13) and intall it in my car ? and this clutch can handle revo stage 2 power (up to 225ps) ?

i would go with that option as u said it's not necessary to get sport clutch and actually TMG clutch is expensive .

Is it necessary to get the toolkit for the TMG clutch pack assuming VW would do the replacing? That's an extra cost.

You can get the newer official clutch direct from VW, its part number 0AM198142B for a 2011 CAVD car manufacture date up to 31/05/2011
Its currently £565 Inc VAT. As above you need specialist tools to fit, but I estimate its a 4 hour job for VW so probably looking at another £500 for fitting - total around £1000

I would be very surprised if you have worn out the clutch on the DSG. They also don't really slip and can take lots of power in most cases.

Do a DSG oil change. Use OEM Oil and OEM filter. It's not a case of 75x90 or whatever. There have been issues using aftermarket oil and non genuine filters.
After the DSG oil change, do an adaption/reset of the gearbox using VCDS. I would be very, very surprised if this did not resolve your issue.
