Elliot's Darkside Scirocco
2 years ago I bought my scirocco....
One of the best decision I've ever made!
First 'mod' wheels sprayed, Matt grey I went for.... Charged me £75 a wheel including a refurb.... Which looking back now I think I was ripped off..
Gave it a good clean!!
When I got the wheels sprayed I had to get new tyres as well..... Excellent!
Sprayed the badge to match the wheels (little mods for the time being)
Can do a bit of upholstery so re trimmed the seats. Planning on doing the door cards and centre console but have too much on at the minute!
Couldn't believe I didn't have cruise control so picked up a stalk on eBay for £30, using @uklee "how to" guides manages to fit it hassle free!
With coding the cruise control, did a few other mods like lock beeps etc....
(Unrelated) but my Little project if I ever get bored on my scirocco
Replacing the RCD510 with RNS510
And the cheap looking plastic with carbon fibre
Whilst fitting the RNS510 I fitted a pioneer underseat sub I had lying around as the standard sound is awful
Seemed to be a perfect fit in that gap!
****SUSPENSION***
First time I've done any sort of lowering!
Bought some fk's
After a long weekend fitting them, having trouble with drop links and my spring compressors...
Way too high!...
Had trouble dropping the strut all the way down...
The adjustment on the rear sits in the housing so I flipped it round so I could get access to it
Loved the look! Not bad for my first time!
Got it tracked at aline alignment (recommend them if anyone's from the midlands region)
Took a trip to MIVW last summer, the Mrs wasn't as annoyed when I told her I'd take her to Amsterdam if I drove all the way! Ha!
Did not like the fk's, felt cheap and did not like the dampening and also missed the DCC
Not to mention I was scraping every single speed bump!
H&R springs! Sorted! Although the garage was out of action and it was raining....
Managed to pick these up at a bargain!... But realised I had to buy a lot of extras, and hassle that I could not be dealing with so sent them back! even though they looked so good!
***Facelift Conversion ***
Took 6 months to find all the parts without paying dealer costs!
Made everything on the conversion removable and easily plug and play if I ever decide to sell the conversion as a whole!
(If anyone would be interested)
Came into all sorts of issues like boot wiring loom was cut off instead of just being unplugged -_-
Vents in bumper missing
Listers were adamant that I had the right brackets on my car but I didn't...
Need to get photos of the harness I made up for easily interchanging the lights back to the old one without cutting and resoldering
The vents ordered arrived broken then vw accused me of forcing it even though it has been snapped the opposite way... And then to top it off the accused me of spraying the parts and blatantly lying... Ended up with an apology from listers
Have the r exhaust custom fitted on Thursday, with the r diffuser
And then all that's left is the VCP coding!
Apology for the length! Ha!
What do you all think?

Re: Elliot's Darkside Scirocco
Looks fantastic mate.
Lots of things done already.
The rear facelift looks good to.
Regarding the forum.
Yes it is a bit slow nowadays. Lots of members sold up and moved on. But lots of new members have joined.
I must admit I don't post anywhere near as much as I use to though

Strong entrance haha. Looks good mate! Whilst you've got the wiper arm off, nip onto kill all wipers and order yourself a bung! Tidys that rear end up nicely

As a newcomer i was surprised how dead the scirocco forums are and most of those who use the forums seem like they basically cant be arsed helping other members.
Enjoyed reading through this thread, really like the wheels and badge colour.

@whitedevil_170
Thanks mate! I'd like to eventually put up a how to guide on the rear conversion!
@philjay92
Cheers mate, although it would look nice, I can't.... I'm too ocd when there's water or mud in my rear view! Haha!
@super cowboyjon
Thanks pal! Thought I'd have a change to the black on black wheels, hopefully I'll eventually put up some threads that are only for particular mods instead of bits and pieces on people's build thread!

Re: Elliot's Darkside Scirocco
Did you use standard drop links? When fitting thes coilovers?
Also what wheel size and tyre combo
I've got the same coilovers waiting to fit and a set of 18" talladegas I can get my hands of for pretty cheap
Also how low have you gone I'm soooo sceptical about our roads

I fitted h&r springs in the end with standard drop links, this drops around 30/35 mm which I haven't had any issues with since I had it lowered 100mm on coiloversTysenior19 wrote:Did you use standard drop links? When fitting thes coilovers?

Tyre sizes on the 8j x 18
235/40/18
Lowering springs are perfect compromise for everyday use and good looks!
