Time to say a fond farewell.
On Monday morning I'll be taking delivery of a new Audi Q3 177 Tdi Quattro and so parting company with my Scirocco. As my wife pointed out this morning the Scirocco is really the first car that I've not wanted to part with. It's not missed a beat. I've been able to thread bends in it with complete c...

Re: Rocco Dadmobile
Sir, I applaud you. For a little dog like my very pretty cocker spaniel the boot is ideal and the boot is definately hers. Now I have two grandsons. They do moan a little bit, especially when it's cold and raining, but if you get a good set of ropes you can easily tie two small children to the roof....

Re: Attention from other drivers
Had plenty of attention when the car was new, that was almost three years ago now, they were a rarity locally. My wife told me she saw a guy photographing the car when she was taking the very pretty cocker spaniel for a walk. He now drives a GT 140 Tdi. I wonder if I'll get the same looks when my Au...

Re: ACC how and when do you use yours??
Left mostly in comfort. But as I live just a five minute drive from some terrific mountain roads in the Brecon Beacons, sport gets the nod and I get a right hook off the wife as she's hanging on for grim death. There's one road that I go on that has just about everything, tight hairpins and m...

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
I know what you mean about the arthritis, I'm the same age with similar condition. I'll keep going with it as long as I can. Out of interest I see you are going from a 170 to the audi 177, have you test driven it and if so, what is the difference? I like the look of the Q 3 Took a Q3 with a 140 tdi...

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
Well I'm 62 and love my Roc. But, but my arthritis is telling me to get something easier to get in and out of. So it is with great regret that I'm parting with the Roc. Soon there will be an Audi Q3 177 tdi quattro Stronic on the drive.

Re: Can you be to old to modify a car?
I love my Roc as it is. Never been much of a 'go faster stripe' person, although I did modify my first car, a Hillman Imp, by putting a concrete block in the luggage compartment to keep the front wheels on the road. I'm 62. As for speed and excitment, well you can't beat driving a fire engine flat o...

Re: Why to watch out in the wet!
It was the Roc that caused the accident. The weakest component on the car failed. It's known as the nut behind the wheel. The driver was simply going too fast for the conditions regardless of what type of tyre was fitted to the car. Not the worse type of RTC that I've had to attend but a familiar fa...

Re: What mileage to Rocco owners do a year?
Around 15,000 a year, all for pleasure. Unless you count a visit to the hospital to have a camera up your arse, foolishly without anaesthetic. Then you find out the Roc isn't that comfortable.

Re: Well, it will soon be time to say goodbye....
Back at the end of February I was wishing I had gone for the Golf GTD, which was my first choice instead of the Roc. I honestly didn't even think about the Roc until the salesman pointed out my wife sitting in the display car. Now the reason for the regretting buying the Roc was the fact that I suff...

Re: These ridiculous lights
I don’t really mind having my lights on all the time Your possibly in a very small minority with that opinion! I'm from Australia. It's been pretty common for a long time for people to have their lights on during the daytime, maybe thats why I don't really care. The New South Wales RTA (Roads and T...

Re: Scirocco 4 ??????
If the potential Mk4 is radically altered, made lower then it could cause a problem for me. I'm getting too long in the tooth for a more sportier ride, my current 170 is just right for me, the wife and a cocker spaniel. I'll be looking to change next year. Or should I be tempted to keep the 170 for ...

That does sound a long time. I usually get to about four miles into my journey and the temp is showing 50C and that's never more than 10 minutes. That's on a really cold morning.

Watch those potholes.
The snow has gone and has been replaced by heavy rain. Some of my local roads, including the M4, have some serious potholes on them. I've been swaying around them and if plod sees me I'm sure they'll stop me to see if I'm over the limit. Time to be careful folks.

Re: Genuine Vw screenwash or cheap stuff?
I've always used Halfords fluid for what ever car I've owned. Biggest problem is from hard water areas when topping up from the tap. Living where I do we have beautiful soft water but with a fairly high pH.

Re: GT 170. MPG
Cheers Goatboy! What are you getting from yours at the minute as I see you have a 170 dsg. Plus do you use any specific diesel? Someone mentioned that ultra is better but not used it before as always had petrol cars until now and weather hadn't really made much difference. Thanks Graham I filled up...

Re: GT 170. MPG
Your 11 mile commute is hardly enough to warm the engine up in winter. My wife takes our dog for a walk in the local country park which is eight miles away. I went with her a couple of times last week, oil temp barely reached 80C and the trip showed a mere 41.3 mpg, although we are climbing througho...

Re: Buying a used scirocco
Like buying any car look carefully at the service history and make sure you take a good test drive. I know the stealers are somewhat dearer than independants but most I'm sure will give some kind of good warranty. But obviously there are even some dealers that are perhaps best avoided. I was careful...
