Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

I’ve been sat on the fence with cosmetic mods for a while but I bought a cup rear spoiler today. I’m also looking at the carbon bonnets now and maybe some wheels now. I don’t really want a carbon bonnet but I can’t fin an FRP one in the style I like.

Re: Stage 1 considering Stage 2+

I'm considering Stage 2+. I was definitely going to go down that road until I got Stage 1 and realised that the car is already struggling to handle the extra power in the lower gears. The extra torque gained with a 2+ setup is the attraction for me. I'm thinking of the GFB pulley wheel now which su...

Re: Badges for Facelift Rocco

The rear badge is definitely different as the facelift went to the boot release badge type. I assume the fronts are the same. Have a look on eBay from Australia and have them shipped over, that's where I got mine. I'd post a pic but Photobucket went mental and doesn't support third party hosting any...

Springs won't void your warranty no matter what ones you fit, unless it's the spring that actually fails.

Re: Your Best Mods?

My tuner said the downpipe adds a bit of noise but it's minimal, especially if using the APR downpipe. Could be a sales pitch but research seems to suggest the same. I'll go Stage 2+ next with a HPFP, downpipe and likely an intercooler for peace of mind. My tuner said I could still get away with a p...

Re: Your Best Mods?

If you are after a performance increase the best bang for buck by far is a stage 1 remap. I'd recommend ditching the Soundaktor as it's free and though the noise it makes is amusing at first it quickly becomes annoying (well, it did for me anyway). It's also easily reversible it you don't like it. T...

Re: Tigger73's Scirocco R

I have to be honest, I'm not sure how the R is plumbed up turbo wise, so that may be the case. All of the turbo cars I've had before are fed exhaust gas from the manifold and discharge into the downpipe. With this set-up a bigger downpipe helps, lower pressure/velocity is a good thing as long as it'...

Re: Springs/Coilovers Best Set Up

Yep, that's it. There's comparison pics in there somewhere. You can clearly see the difference between the 3 set-ups, they offer up a key fob as a point of reference.

>moto<'s 2016 R

I spent a bit of time searching for my car, I wanted one with leather and in Indium Grey, I finally found it in NSW and had to fly down to pick it up from QLD. The 1000Km (600 mile) drive home was fun though! I had done a bit of research before buying so I already had a fair idea of what I wanted to...

Re: Tigger73's Scirocco R

Cars all look stunning, I'm almost jealous I didn't get the blue! Thanks for the tip with the stickers, I did do a quick Google before but I didn't really know what I was looking for. I'll start a build thread if my own and post a couple of pics, you can then see how shit mine looks without clutteri...

Re: Springs/Coilovers Best Set Up

Look up a members thread here called Victor, it has pictures of cars with H&R and Eibach springs plus a comparison with a car that's on coilovers. I personally went with Eibach springs, whilst the H&R look better I would have ground clearance issues and they are reportedly a harsher ride whi...

Re: Tigger73's Scirocco R

It does seem to go against convention. The turbo usually sits straight after the exhaust manifold (which I don't think you have changed) so should spool up at least the same as before. The difference is that with a larger downpipe, sports cat and an exhaust, you have less back pressure opposing the ...

Re: 2016 R - 4 months in

Ahh, good point Cuprabob, I did forget about that. The Scirocco uses the Borg Warner K04 turbo, is this just a different designation for the GT24 that you mention? My comments are only really valid for a comparison to the Mark 6 Golf then, which admittedly wasn't what the previous poster was referri...

Re: 2016 R - 4 months in

It's interesting that you feel the Rocco has more lag than the Golf. I didn't drive the Golf but assumed that the lag would be the same given they have the same engine/turbo. In a lunch situation I can understand the comment as the Golf makes more of the power with its AWD system. I have APR Stage 1...
