Re: Insurance and remapping

That's a good price sam! Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk 54 with 11 years no claims, no points in 21 years driving ( pure luck !) Wow good on you!!!! Mines a little higher as am 23, had a single car crash 4 years ago (insurers love this) and the fact I’m still under 25!!! However for a modded ...

Re: Insurance and remapping

Just to reply to the above post. My car was purchased as standard from available car.. I took it on the dyno for a before and after remap test and the car had already been remapped... I had no idea what so ever. So its easy to buy a car remapped without even knowing... Oh wow!!! I always thought it...

Re: Insurance and remapping

Many insurers are likely to take the view that, on average, people with remaps may be more likely to make a claim. And will charge a higher premium. I don't think you could expect them to pay the full amount of your claim if you haven't paid the full premium you would've been charged had you disclo...

Insurance and remapping

After a bit of advice about insurance. I’ve just rung my insurance for a new quote as planning on getting a TDI. However the car I’ve got my eyes on they said they won’t insure on my policy as it’s been remapped? (I did tell them just simply for a quote as I’d advised to mention it and see what they...

Re: DSG or No DSG?

I am fortunate to have both (not on the same car of course!), but we also own a Polo GTI DSG. When I first drove it, I did feel detached from the car and not involved with the driving experience in anyway. After originally owning a Fiesta ST, it felt a bit boring. However... Once I started using th...

Re: DSG or No DSG?

DSG all the way. Horror stories are very few and far between compared to the hundreds of thousands of units they've sold. I've had DSG's now since 2009 and love it. It's actually the best of both worlds. When you're in traffic the auto option takes away the need to keep pumping the clutch. When you...

Re: DSG or No DSG?

I have a 2.0 tsi dsg scirocco and it’s fantastic, when you feel like having a good drive put it in sports mode and hear it pop, I also love using the paddles aswell. I would struggle going back to a Manual! Just keep your dsg box serviced [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro I currently ...

Re: DSG or No DSG?

I have manual and always will unless I physically cant change gear someday. DSG will beat a manual car of the same spec down the 1/4 mile for instance. There is less driver input generally, I like the engineering behind it and it is very popular and reliable also, just not the amount involvement yo...

But if you don't drive a lot of mileage a manual is also fine.

DSG or No DSG?

I’m going to be looking for a TDI next month or early next year. I’ve heard some horror stories & been told to stay clear from DSG. Now this is only one person I’ve spoken to so not sure what the general opinion is. I’m ideally looking to get a 170. There’s a lot of DSG’s for sale & hardly a...

Re: Slight lumpy idle when cold.

Interesting thread as my other half has a Skoda Octavia Vrs and that’s got the same engine in as the sciroccos. He also has starting issues occasionally mostly when cold. Also haven’t got it fixed yet. We changed the coolant temperature sensor at the weekend. It now starts on the second time compare...

On the hunt for my first diesel 2.0 170 TDI

I’ve currently got a 2008 2.0 TSI GT which I adore however due to mileage rising I’m looking at getting a diesel version. Want a 170 version as plan to get a remap to similar spec as the TSI. Just wondering if there are any about or where best to look? Budget unfortunately around £8k at a stretch. I...

Re: Laura's Rising Blue Rocco

I think we may have the same colleague. Some tube put there tow bar through mine in the same spot 2 weeks ago! No way!!! What a coincidence is that?! My car is only just going into the body shop this week. Insurance taken an age to get sorted but hopefully this week it will finally happen. New bump...

Re: Laura's Rising Blue Rocco

The next thing I wanted to do was to pain the brake callipers. I initially couldn't decide between red or blue behind the black wheels. So took a look at some pictures from online. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170728/75735d4db95561103c32268aa629b763.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2017072...

Re: Laura's Rising Blue Rocco

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170728/2b5abec20c8ff88082bf05ef8380d658.jpg So the next thing I decided to do was to add in some puddle lights. What I didn't realise was that my car being a 58 plate was a year out of actually having any wiring in the door panel. Along with help from my other hal...
