Re: HELP - Car shakes when idle & exhaust pops while cruisin
If you can take the car back to the garage that haven’t resolved the problem. Ask them to complete a VCDS scan, if it shows a misfire error, then swap the coil pack over from a non misfiring cylinder and drive it and scan again. If the misfire changes cylinder, its most likely a coil pack fault. If ...

Re: Stutter - hard acceleration in low revs
It could be a coil pack starting to degrade. I had 2 coil packs fail within a few months of each other, so the second time I replaced them all. I did notice what you described above prior to replacing but once all the coil packs were changed it eliminated it completely. Hope this helps.

Re: Loose steering wheel
Hi, sounds like a balancing issue. Worse case would be a buckled wheel! Get the fronts balanced or swap rear to fronts to check. Balancing would show if a wheels buckled as you can see it when it’s spinning on the machine. The VW alloys are quite soft in my opinion and will buckle easily. On a car o...

Just type in clutch squeal in the search and all your questions will be answered. Common one this for scirocco.

Re: 2.0tdi engine rattle when started and scratched windows
Regarding the scratches on your windows, mine has some too. Most likely dirt trapped in the rubbers, the fact that the windows go up and down slightly all the time probably exasperates the problem. As dirt will get trapped in the seals. Best thing is to try and keep your car relatively clean. I doub...

Re: Newbie alert
With your budget you should be fine. You'll tend to find more high mileage cars for that sort of money, but with full service history they should be ok. I would avoid the early 1.4tsi engines as they can be problematic, just search on the forum and you'll see what I mean. Also not many miles for a d...

I bought my car in Dec 2013 and the centre caps were as described above. They were replaced by the dealer and as of this moment they look as fresh as the day I picked the car up, not a mark on them!

Re: Tyre noise or wheel bearing
You could always get the bearings checked to make sure. If it is the tyres it is caused by wear, you should find that depending on the quality of the road surface the noise is still present but can be louder or quieter. All tyres have a decibel rating so that could have a slight impact. When I last ...

Re: Someone reversed into me - Front Bumper/Headlight Damage
TobyKad, unfortunately you're right mate. The way it works is the insurance uses statistics. So there is a chance of a claim when you take out insurance based on certain factors. If you make a claim regardless of fault then statistically the possibility of you being involved in another accident incr...

Yep, me too. There isn't much information around on this other than for USA/Canada. There is a workshop guide, which I've read. Here's the link: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2016/RCRIT-16V913-6522.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It seems it's just a software update. ...

All genuine VW parts fitted by a main agent are covered for 2 years from fitment I believe. You should be covered.

Re: Vandalism - alarm didn't go off
The standard VW alarm won't work like that. It has interior sensors in the cabin which detect movement and trigger accordingly. It also micro switches on the doors, bonnet and boot which will activate the alarm if forced. It may be possible to set the alarm off with shock to the cars bodywork or mov...

As above moved over from Michelin to PS4 and happy with them. Roughly the same performance wise but the PS4 is a quieter tyre.

You're going to need a bodyshop for that mate. The scratches on the bumper are through to the plastic and the marks on the wheel arch look like someone has tried touching them up. Not worth trying to sort it yourself imo.

Re: Aux port only has left speaker output.
Another thing you could try, is to have a little poke around in the connector with a wooden cocktail stick or similar thing (nothing metal!). Also maybe hoover the connector as well during or after. With you having a weak right signal there could be something in there. It would only take lint and du...
