VW Bluetooth and RCD-510

Hi all, :yes:

Just a quick question:

I started to visit this site when I ordered my "Beast" (4 - 5 months back) and read in multiple places about the Bluetooth and multi function display and RCD510. When I ordered my car I did not opt for the Bluetooth or the RCD510 (The 1.4TSI here in SA has the large multi function display and multi function steering wheel as standard), however after reading how good all these thing integrate, I decided to order the Bluetooth and RCD510 through my VW dealer and when the car arrives, my local dealer can just fit these parts.

When I received my car everything was fitted and looked brilliant. However, my multi function display nor my RCD510 shows any phone information (No phonebook option on mfd, the phone button on RCD only mutes radio, Nowhere does it show anything or any information about a phone). I know the Bluetooth works since I can pair my phone when I start the car and when a call comes in the radio auto mutes and then I can answer (Answer only) the call from the multi function steering wheel, I can communicate with the other person (However still nothing appears when I have answered the call or even before a call or after a call). So I know the Bluetooth is working (To a certain degree)

Now the question I have is as follows:

Is there something wrong with the settings with the car or is it old Bluetooth technology or is there suppose to be a update for the radio? Or what should happen when I "paired" the phone with the car?

O, almost forgot, I read allot about the Bluetooth and RSAP thing, so I also bought a Blackberry Torch 9800 (Which to my knowledge supports RSAP).

Thanx in advance. :nod:

That does seem strange as I have RCD 510 and VW BT and there is a phone menu in the MFD and when you push the phone button on the RCD510 then the phone display comes up on the RCD510. There is an option on the MFD menu to import the phonebook.

It does sound as if it's not coded correctly.

If my understanding the Rsap compatability issues were with the previous version of BT VW supplied

good luck with trying to get to the bottom of it

You may not have the most recent BT hardware. There are several versions and only the very late ones support full intergration. You can read full details on this very useful site: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a5/V ... th-FAQ.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It could also be a coding or phone compatibility issue but I suspect VW sold you an earlier bluetooth unit they had sat on the shelf or they ordered the wrong part. I think you need the 7w6 module and you will find the module under one of the seats so could check.

Thanx for the reposts "SB", it came in really handy.

Next question though:

I can seem to find any devices under the driver nor passenger seats, which leads me to believe that I have the "Volk-L" Bluetooth device (as it was dealer fitted and no device is visible).

Since my car is a 2011 model (Build week 28~2011), is the dealer not suppose to install the latest Bluetooth device into my car? And how much does it cost for the latest Bluetooth it the UK if it was ordered with the car (Mine was around R 4 500 which is about 450 pounds)??
