The Roc is going, never been right from day one, full of squeaks, rattles and poor build quality, after faulty electrics a clutch noise and judder, a clunk that the dealers think is normal and now and engine buzzing a suspension squeek that they cannot hear Ive had enough of this motor, after 23 years of vw ownership this little car has put me off for life.
Hello TT

Same group you know. Many same parts.
My Roc has been fine (bar the usual squeek of the tailgate - I think). Sorry about your experience

I had a bad experience with a Land Rover Discovery, deffo a Friday car.
Did'nt let it put me off Landy's though!
Vee Dubs,on the whole are well made and very reliable good car's.Don't let 1 bad experience put you off.
Like Ryy says Audi are the same group with lot's af generic parts.

My wife's brand new audi is plagued by squeaks and rattles and with 3000 on the clock there is something weird going on under the bonnet everytime she pulls away. I had loads of trouble with my TT including a breakdown on the motorway and faulty exterior lights. Unfortunately all manufacturers still build bad cars it's just the number of them that determines the overall perceived quality of the brand. Good luck , hope you have more luck with the TT.

Yeah not to put you off the TT but my mom has a 09 plate roadster which has only done 10000 miles 3000 of which my dad put on as he decided to drive it to spain when we had all that volcanic ash and didnt want to loose out on his holiday lol and in that time its had to have the dash replaced twice as "one of the computers had failed" causing audi to have the car for two 3 week periods in which the second time they actually thought they were going to have to replace the car as literally the only thing it would do would unlock and that was it no lights no errors no noise no nothing. And now the all the laquer has peeled of the front bumper and the paint is flaking off. quite impressive since it sits in a heated garage most of the time

Oh dear you did have a bad one, what happened to the Xenons? Had no issues with Xenons on mine over the 3 years, not even a blown bulb.

These cars are only machines, made by machines. They aren't all identical and for that reason things do...and will, go wrong. Its like with any manufacturer, some complete garbage does come though the production line, others more than some, (take my fiat van for example!!!) but VW is a pretty good manufacturer, imo, my roc has had niggly things go wrong but as I said, all cars go wrong, Its not always down to build quality, its just the luck of the draw most of the time!

Sorry to hear about your experience. Have owned mine for a couple of days now, and so far so good. Couldn't really point the finger at anything.
Hope it stays this way.

Finally the straw thats broke the camels back comes with a broken gearbox,
Im not sad to see it go and wished my experience with the little coupe was as memorable as with the TT, although it was but for the wrong reasons.
Thanks for this forum and good luck

Sorry to hear about your problems. Had a test drive in an Audi, albeit an A1, before deceiding on a Scirocco a couple of months ago. Very dissapointed with the quality of the finish etc & they offered me a ridicuously bad deal. Wouldn't dream of getting rid of my Scirocco.
