Project Candy - My Scirocco R

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum but here is my Scirocco R, ordered December 2009 and delivered April 2010. So far in the year I've had it I've fitted some VW racing lowering springs to bring it 20mm closer to the tarmac and recently an EVOMS induction kit (actually from a Golf Edition 30 but the engine is the same) and a Milltek Cat-back exhaust.

Here are some pics as she stands at the moment (ignore the fly splats and dirt!)

Some of you might of seen the car on Regal Autosport's stand at GTI international but here is a pic of the EVOMS kit:

Now, originally I had a Superchips Bluefin remap but I had loads of problems like poor running erratic acceleration and poor MPG figures. Superchips didn't seem too interested in my problems so as GTI International I had REVO put a standard stage 1 map on there. Instantly the throttle was more responsive and acceleration was much smoother. The MPG figures I am now getting are actually better than I was getting when the car was standard!

I have already spoken about the dyno process and how I went about it here http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =10&t=9190 but essentially the car is running 347bhp and 316 lb/ft or torque. If you want to have a look at the final dyno plot you can look here: http://www.lawsonmedia.co.uk/forums/dyn ... 110723.pdf I'm hoping to dyno again in a few weeks and find out how the figures are after giving the ECU a chance to learn the new values.

I have also just fitted a BSH PCV delete kit which will stop the failure of the PCV valve that some GTI owners have been experiencing with increased boost. All the valve does is recirculate some of the rocker cover gases back into the intake but what tends to happen is it splits and then sprays oil all over the engine bay and causes a massive boost leak!

Hopefully in time I can do a few how-tos and bits and pieces for the roccopedia but feel free to PM or post here if you have any questions!

Cheers

Ollie

Ollie I just drove past your car today. Saw it, reversed, got out the car and had a quick cheeky look, then drove on. PS the road by your house is very bad!

What a random spot haha.

Really nice car!

How is the EVOMS? Do you like it? What's the sound like? That's on my list soon, be interested to know your thoughts.

I love the EVOMS it sounds amazing - really deep and throaty. I had it on there before I fitted the exhuast and it makes a bit of difference to the throttle response too. You can hear the wastegate chattering down it when you lift off - worth it just for that! I got mine from Regal Autosport - I've used them for a while and they did the work on my old supercharged R32. I think the website is http://www.regal-auto.co.uk speak to Paul he really knows his onions

I fitted the EVOMS myself its not that bad if you're handy with a set of spanners. I paid about £350 for it delivered.

I'm down in sunny Bournemouth

For all those that are considering the Milltek exhaust (or those that just want to hear it) here's another video of the noise of the car running on the dyno:
