Just interested to see what people's oil usage is like during the first few thousand miles.

On my old MK5 Golf 2.0 GT TDI, in the first 2000 miles it had used about 2 litres of oil and I was panicking thinking there was something wrong. However the usage continued to drop until about 15,000 miles when it settled right down and from there on used very little.

I ask as I've been checking my Rocco weekly since I've had it. It's now 10 weeks old and has done about 1,700 miles and had used....nothing ! Not a drop. Checked it this morning and it was still at the full mark on the dipstick, is this a feature of the new common rail diesel engines? I've also noticed that the oil isn't jet black either which also surprised me but rather a dark brown colour.

What are other people's experiences please?

I've got mine to 2K with no oil used at all - actually - to be precise, got it to 1,600 and need to check again (it was raining when I filled up with diesel!)

with a 2.0TSi 200ps (as it was) mine needed about a half litre at about 12000miles, then was serviced at 18250 and at 24000 is about half way between the marks on the dipstick....so I guess not alot....

I have done 53000 km in my 170 TDI, and never had to fill it - so mine dosent use any oil at all? :-) (checked at least every 3000 km)

About 1/2 a litre in 20k miles on my old 140TDI Roc.

6k in and my R has gone through a 1 litre top up.

almost non at all I've done 39,000 miles and have i doubt over that time i've used more than 1 litre to top up.

Never added a drop to the R or for that matter the Edition 30 before it.

Over 2L of oil so far. Not got any problems, but car generally does short journeys to work and track day every 1-2months.
