What's ticked in your 1.1 Service Schedule booklet on page 3? "Longlife" or "Service Interval"?
If its ticked of "L" its due around now latest ("according the dash warning flexible service indicator" or "after 2 years latest")
If its ticked for "SI" it was due July 2010 (1 year or 10,000miles which ever is first)

look like 2 years [says on the door pillar] or 20.000 miles so will get it done next month.
2 years trouble free motoring .thinking of trading for and a1 .my only bug is it has no spare wheel .
we had gti lupo that had no spare wheel never like that, but a great little car all the same.

Its due now irrespective of what the car is saying as 2 years on Longlife is up next month (your longest point from 2/7/09.). Not servicing invalidates warranty.
Depends whether you have a simple steering wheel or multi-function steering wheel.
All on page 14 or 18 of the 3.1 Controls & Equipment booklet
On simple steering wheel, press the rocker switch on the wiper lever. Select "settings", then select "Service", then "Info" and it will show.
On MFSWheel, press the right hand key pads, left or right button of the 4 in a square, select "Service Interval", press the bottom button in the 4 square and select "Info" Exit by centre button.

Just out of interest how much will that first service cost?
Will VW class it as an interval service or an full inspection service?
RW1 might help answer this one ;-)
