Anyone help

I opened the car door earlier today and the wind took it and it hit a wall :?

It has 3 small indentations on the paintwork (Sumatra) No dints just taken the paint off.

I want a proper repair job so what's the best options? VW garage?

Also a month ago I collected a stone scratch on the front wheel arch. Size of a 5 pence piece but also a small indentation.

Again what is the best options?

Thanks

A respray will involve spraying quite a bit of the door !! so personally i would prefer to just touch it up with a touch up pen, do you have pictures of it so we can see what its like ?, PS what wheel trims do you have on the Rocco !!!!, i didnt know they even did a version with wheel trims on ?

Where has the paint come off where it hit the wall tel? If its on the edge I've done this several times so have a touch up stick in the cubby to fill them in when I notice.

Can you still see the scratches once you have used the touch up pen?

Depends how good you are with a touch stick. One tip, buy an artists fine sable brush and use that rather than to touch stick brush as it will give you better control while applying. Metallics are always difficult to get a match with a touch stick because the colour paint will lie differently to the original.

But its hard to just how best as a photo would be useful ;)

Will put some photos up tomorrow

If I took it to VW dealer what price would it cost roughly?

A lot! (for what it is)

A lot of dealers will just call in some one like Chips Away and then add their commission if its minor as you are saying.

The alternative is as shaun has stated above, they will have to spray part of the door to blend in the old and new paints. That doesn't come cheap, even for a small patch due to prep & set up times.

Show us how bad it is, a dealer doing a spray job is going to be in the hundreds !!(£200-£400 for the door alone), plus they hardly ever look right !, and if you were to sell and i saw that the door had been painted i would worry what had happened to the car and would not buy it when in fact all that was wrong was some small paint chips on the side of the door.

I would use a touch up stick on those.

Not touching up with a touch up paint stick! You never get a matching finish surely?

Chips Away will sort that. Or visit the dealer and ask who they use, then go direct after you have seen some of their workmanship.

For chips away or for a dealer ?, i would not let chips away type people near my car !, you can always see where the repair was done, and to do the repair they have to sand the surrounding area down so in my eyes they damage even more paint !!, the dealer will spray all the door and all the wing, at a guess your looking at £300, again i have not seen many paint jobs that match the factory finish, and as a buyer i would think the car had been in a smash if the door and wing had been painted, its upto you of course, visit a dealer and see what they want to charge.

I just picked up the car on Sat which was repaired because someone keyed it. I got it done for £200+vat, that includes a door and blend of the rear quarter panel.
