Lovely drive down there even if the road floods quite a bit in Clare.
One thing the West has is beautiful scenery to distract you from the pothole thats destroying your tyres

kiwicelt, yea the roads are a bit crazy around the Burren and Cliffs of Mohor, twisting narrow 'National' roads with 100kph speed limits and i was pushing myself doing 60kph on them. However the uninterrupted 200-odd kilometres of Motorway and Dual Carriageway from Dublin right across the country to Ennis in Clare is superb - lovely views too. I'd highly recommend it to our British friends thinking about doing some touring in their Rocco.

I do the Galway - Dublin cruise-control fest most weekends though I still vote for this as the most fun you can have without other traffic.
