my car went into the dealers to have the xenon lights checked for height, they came back all ok.
however it came bk and now have a message on the display screen evertime i start it or flick the menu
it says,
CHECK LHS SIDELIGHT
CHECK RHS SIDELIGHT
Now i have checked these and they are fine, also there is no bulb warning symbol lit up either.
now the dealer did tell me that i have changed them to non standard ones as they are LED so has it set something up on the display to waen other garages etc.
your help would be great.
thank you

I've had LED sidelights for 9 months or so and last week the check LHS message came up, I got out of the car and checked the sidelight, it was on, got back in the car and the message had gone, that's one smart system!
I think the CANBUS circuitry must be getting tired of telling the warning system there is a light there.......
Why the left light is more tired than the right one is a mystery to me.
If you turn the lights to sidelights do the warnings disappear? Mine do.

mine appeared recently ( after having LEDs for over 6 months) and now, what ever i do, it will just stay there. Again checking the reflection and the side lights are working fine...
its getting annoying now and i am tempted to put back those OEM bulbs.

It is probably detecting low current drain as the actual wattage of the led's will be lower, why it has started after 6 months is anyones guess, maybe it just started working properly, you could try fitting a load resister to bring the current back up but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Hey guys, is this one particular supplier of LED's or have you all got different ones?
Had a "CANBUS Friendly" set in for 12 months with no problems but decided to change to a brighter "CANBUS friendly" set. Within a week I had warnings despite them being "CANBUS friendly". Changed the LED unit for a spare I had bought with the new set. Fault wouldn't clear.
Put the original factory W5W bulbs back in. Fault wouldn't clear off dash or in the controller memory. Waited an hour, fault cleared.
Fitted the faulty "CANBUS friendly" LED, fault back and the same difficulty clearing it. Again had to put both original factory w5w bulbs back in but the fault didn't clear this time easily. Gave the factory original blubs an overnighter, about 12 hours and the fault cleared off the dash, and was able to clear the controller.
Fitted a replacement spare LED unit plus the good original LED and have had no further problems.
The LEDs I had a problem with, were these
LEDs.
They exchanged the faulty one without question but their tests indicated nothing wrong with the LED unit.

Yep, those are the lights I'm using.
Odd that it takes 9 months to work out there is a fault.

Don't think its that it takes time to work out. My testing on the car showed the particular LED unit had gone faulty and it was a hard fault with repeatability.

I get this aswell, but they both work perfectly.
Also started getting the bulb warning for my right headlight, which cuts the power to the headlight. Stupid modern cars with their canbus electronics guff...

Its fairly common to happen.
Send the LEDs back to the seller.
Scirocco's lamp test is fairly sensitive to the electrical load sensing its does.

Is this likely to happen if the number plate lights are changed to LEDs?

So acctually no leds Will work?
Would it help fitting an extra resistor cable to it ?

Yes they will. I sent mine back to the seller. Tested OK with them.
Replacements have been working fine since.
But I don't expect them to last given the comments above. Seems the circuits eventually deteriorate and the Scirocco's 09 Central Electrics Controller detects that. What the actual problem is, I haven't investigated.
I had a previous lower powered set like this.

Italian LEDs.JPG
They gave no problems for 12 months upto being replaced. They weren't as bright though.

What do you use now? I am having real trouble tracking down some that will work. Already had to send a set back to ebay seller. They were brand new. Flux is asking too much for my budget so I am still looking

My post further up the topic

There's a link to Ebay. Since the inital faulty one on delivery being replaced, they've work OK since early April 2011.
