Advice on free service pack

Hi,

I have a 5 month old Roc that I bought from a VW dealer 2 months ago.

Part of the deal was 2 years free servicing
It got 5800 miles on it now and the service due says 10500 or 430 days so I guess it is set to longlife service.

At this rate I will only get one free service instead of the 2 I had counted on ( I do about 12k a year)

What is the best thing to do ? can I ask for it to be set to time and distance now ?

I can see me needing its second service just after the 2 years run out... :grumpy:

If you buy a brand new one right now and get the 3 years free servicing, you get 3 annual services, rather than longlife - should be the same for you unless buying almost new has given some weird terms.

The 3 year deal is based on no more than 30,000 miles, you get a service every 10,000 miles or annually (whichever is sooner). If it was set to longlife, you'd only get 1 service out of VW, as teh average longlife service kicks in at about 17,000 miles unless you thrash your car.

Been thinking... (always dangerous..)

Car is now on longlife service telling me 10500 to go before service...

Car bought in March 2011 so free servicing till March 2013 (two years)

At my milage rate (12K per year) that should take me 10 months from now ... February 2012 (first free service)

At this point I will get it switched to Time/Distance

so another 12 months takes me to February 2013 or based on my Milage rate December 2012 I will get it serviced (second free service)

Then changed back to Longlife .. This should give me another 16 months till the 3rd service and the first I have to pay for .. approx Aprill / May 2014 ! :eyepop: :D Assuming I still have the car then !!

Can anyone see a flaw in my logic ?

I would just ask your dealer to put it on T & D and get it serviced every year.
