Brake pad lifespan

Has anyone had to changed the brake pads on their roc yet? If so, how many miles did you get from them? The brake pad check light came on on mine the other day so it's now booked in at the dealer to be looked at. I know it depends on driving style etc but my car has only done about 15k, seems low mileage for a change of pads given that I don't drive the car hard.

just had mine in for a service at 16000 miles and still plenty left on the pads maybe a fault with the warning system

Not a fault, the pad warning lights come on a lot sooner than minimum pasd thickness, no need to book it in at the dealer, just replace the pads!!, Or bypass the warning light.

Brake pad life is very dependant on driving style. On my R32 I at just under 80k miles and I'm still on the original pads although I do a lot of motorway miles.

Thanks for the help.
Apparently there's damage to the wiring loom which has previously been taped up! I suspect that it's the place that changed the springs for me...
Beware!!!

Thought it was shockingly low milage on a set of pads!!!

Candy Monster I had a front and rear pad change at 43,000 miles (SMT and some life in rears), plenty of life in the disks, pads took a pounding at Bruntingthorpe and flicked the sensors on, the Golfs are fine after 32,000

My A4 needed a full set of pads at 20k, more than half the pad left, but the wear indicator was on........

Still can't believe you booked it into the dealer without taking the wheels off to check the brakes yourself! Taped up wiring must have been blindngly obvious.

Did the dealer charge you?

I've not used much of my OE pads in 15k miles at all...here's a pic of the thickness compared to a brand new Mintex pad.

Had mintex pads fitted the other day. Much better than standard. Couldnt directly compare thickness, but old pads did look a bit worn. But more noticeably also quite roughed up, the edges had started breaking away. Chungsters look neat in comparison. I'll take a photo later and put it up.

I do think that these 1144's are better everyday than standard, just they can squeak a bit at low speeds.

Not that I see or change pads a lot, but they look quite roughed up to me. 5700miles and one hard track day.

Done 24,000 miles haven't had a warning or any advisory at service. Do a fair mixture of motorway backroad and town driving.

We got told 20% wear at 10000 mile service a few weeks ago.

My rears were just replaced at 36k miles. I asked them to keep the pads for me to see as I could not believe the rears were fully worn after only 36k. Turned out there was plenty pad left, but the pad surface was breaking up, mainly at the edges but at least one chunk from the middle. The mechanic reckoned the frost had possibly got at them. Still pretty poor in my mind though.
