Hi all, just looking for second opinions here from anyone else who has gone for a full refurb of any alloys. Wheel was kerbed about 3/4 of the way round the edge (not by me of course) but also had tool marks centrally from a previous removal. Paid £85 for a full refurb which seems the going rate and it initially looked OK, but on futher closer inspection I've noted that:
i) The paint appears slightly darker than my others, although this appears to change(!) depending on the light.
ii) There's raised paint lines along the edges of the spokes (i.e. where too much paint has accumulated and then dried).
iii) There's 3 or 4 very small areas of what look like dots of grit under the paint.
iv) Central marks are still visible, albeit better than they were.
Photos are below. What I'm unsure of is should I expect it to look almost as good as new after a refurb or is it a case of you get what you pay for? At £350 for a new wheel, part of me thinks that for £85 it looks 'OK' but should I expect it to look almost original again? Have others here had better results with these specialist refurb companies?
Have spoken to them and they advised would get someone to call me back (which they haven't) but did say, only upon highlighting this, is that they cannot guarantee perfect paint matches... Can't make up my mind whether to make a meal of it down at their workshop or not.
Thanks.

What did someone use to remove the wheel to damage the nut hole so much - mole grips?

Any half decent sprayer should be able to match the paint and blend it in no problem.
As for still being able to see the damage under the paint......no excuse! It would have stood out when they were at primer stage.
I'd have them do it again.

I am no expert, but that looks a poor job to me.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!
Re: Kerbed alloy and cr*p refurb.
Thanks for replies. After polishing up my original wheels at the weekend, the colour mis-match doesn't appear as signficiant as first thought. As for the other issues, decided I can't trust them with it again and I'll probably 'live with it' until any future damage occurs, then try somewhere else. Annoying thing is, they came recommended to me for a 'professional' job by a main body repair centre in this area.... it's an obvious rushed job and have told them so, advising next time I'll buy a new replica alloy instead as will probably look better ! BTW, it was WRC in Bamber Bridge, Preston in case any local Scirroco owners are reading this.
