Fiscon and Android phone compatability

Hi , just had my fiscon basic plus fitted yesterday, smart job nice piece o gear, BUT the fitter told me that I can't sync my phonebook on any android phone, which is a tad disappointing, wifes just gonna update to a HTC Desire HD, the fitter had an HTC phone and showed me what happened when he tried to sync phonebook, once the phone is paired to the HDC it asks permission to access phonebook when you say yes the system just crashes because it can't read android based operating systems. It will act as a hands free and allow calls to be accepted but no sync. I looked on fiscons website and on there it says that the HTC Desire is compatable. Just gotta wait for daughter to come home as she has an HTC Desire which is nearly new, so I'll try that. Anybody else had same problem ?? Was just reading that the VW bluetooth kit now works with most phones have i wasted my dosh ?? Will post later if any success. If not this really restricts choice of new phone.

i've only got the rcd510 & not sure which fiscon module though but can find out if needs be.
it was initially a bit of a pig to get it to connect the first time but then i'm not massively tech savvy, luckily I had a persistent 'expert' assisting

Similar situation with HTC Wildfire. Having got p****ed off with the original rSAP premium kit not working and the UMTS unit VW suggested equally not working, am now looking at a Fiscon. So does anyone have happy success with this phone (and BB Torch 9800 which will also be used) and the Fiscon?

jblink, have you not considered replacing the rSap box with the revised proper bluetooth box? it would probably be cheaper for you than installing the full fiscon kit as you already have the mic & connections

If you mean the unit from VW, part number 000051473F which was what VW offered then that was fitted last week. Wouldn't work at at all as it appears it is only for builds after May 09 (Mrs Blink's is Feb 09). Otherwise any suggestions gratefully received!! Frankly this fiasco is pointing us away from VW when it is time for a replacement, both for Mrs B and and my Passat

thats a bummer jb, you mean VW fitted the unit and it doesn't work, thats a scandal, how much did they charge you. The fiscons working a treat now. Shame its putting you off VW cos the Rocs one hell of a car,I'd be back at dealers, good luck

Just a quick thought though , when i rung the fitter of the fiscon, who's HTC I initially tried to pair, and did ok till it got to the phonebook, since found out that his phone book was too full !! He told me it could only cope with 250 contacts max, any chance that could be the case with yours?

For Androids not being able to pair up/connect with the Fiscon, get Bluetooth File Transfer from Android Market and connect to the Fiscon through that. I have a Nexus One and that's how I got my phone connected.

It was going to be £270 including fitting, but they did not charge me, just refitted the original rSAP unit

jblink,
just managed to find the link I was looking for, we had someone in the exact same situation the other week.
I think your dealer tried to fit too newer box for your car (suitable for white mfd's only) there is a red mfd version as follows. b0rk recommended the following

I was searching for HTC problems and came across this thread. I have been happily using Fiscon with my HTC Wildfire for a few months now but now it simply pairs but I cannot make/receive calls or bring up my call list or telephone book. Therefore it doesn't work plain and simple. I did a factory reset and have reset the phone and then paired the two up again but the result is the same. This morning I removed the Fiscon unit then re-connected everything but no joy. The phone's bluetooth functions appear to work okay with my laptop so I think it is the Fiscon.
