how large is the tank on the Scirocco 1.4 TSI / roughly how much is it costing to fill atm?

Its 55 litres (48 + 7 reserve) and £1.32 a litre for Shell V Power this week for me.

Average consumption since new 35 mpg. Mainly urban short journeys.

on avarage 70-100 pounds / month. Mainly local/ urban with distances no more than 80 miles in one go.

using shell fuel as well ( the cheap one).

it would be interesting to know how much other forum members from Saudi Arabia/Oman/ UAE pays, i remember its something like 20p/ ltr there.

I'm putting just under £60 worth in the tank at the moment.

From empty I managed £65.00 worth of BP standard diesel.

Same as above really .. from near empty got £60 of 95 RON @ 126p & previous week similar fill up on 98 RON for £65 (super) @ 135p

52 litres of V Power in the R = £70!!!!!

Basically it gives you the cheapest fuel around your area and if you register it sends you a list of petrol station around you with the price of either petrol or diesel.

I read a report somewhere that suggested that unless you use a fuel suppliers 'premium' fuel for the entire life of your engine it will make little to no different to your average MPG. Although I appreciate 'premium' fuels will certainly be better for your engine.

instead of these 99octane fuel, which contains cleaning agents, would it be good to use regular fuel but from time to time chuck a bottle of those Redline liquid in the tank? just to stop the injectors from clogging.

Premium fuel is not about MPG...higher Octane fuel is required for an engine that's been programmed to run it.

On the fuel flap for the R...it does say please use 98 Octane Super Plus UL!

High Octane Fuel prevents "knock"..pre detonation of fuel mixture inside the chamber. Do that often and the engine will run like bag of nails and go pop.

And when you've forked out that much for a performance car you can't skimp on petrol really. might as well have bought a 1.0 corsa.

£65 quid to fill up this week - approx 51l.
£1.27 per litre.
Standard unleaded.

Avg mpg since new 35 mpg.

My first £60 fill up the other day. £1.31 a litre but has already gone up to £1.33 and I'm almost empty again. Done 520 miles since fill up and will do another 40 before I get to Burgess Hill Shell station.
I've managed to average 47mpg since new. 8000 miles covered so I'm very happy.

So all in all we reckon that 35mpg is what I am likely to see form the 1.4 tsi? Anyone know what is typiclal for longer motorway based journeys. Of course the officla stats say up to 50 but I guess thats marketing b**ocks!

the most i've seen from my 1.4 is 46.4 on a long steady cruise back from surrey & my commute (approx 10/11 miles mainly dual carriageway) I get 31-35 depending on if i'm going to work or from & if i'm running late my 100 hour/1000 mile trip average (can't remember exactly which it is) is always sat between 34-36 which I consider fair seeing as my car is used mostly for commuting.

Mortc: You might get early 40s on a long motorway run in a 1.4TSI/160. All offical figures are crap. No weight of driver/passengers in the car and no wind resistance if they do the tests on a rolling road. You should be aiming for about 80% of the "combined" figure in the real world in general driving and 90-100% of it on an uncluttered motorway doing a pretty constant 75mph.

I've got around 4k on the clock now and my 'lifetime' average mpg is showing as 36mpg

Long motorway journeys it can get into the mid to high 40's, but this depends on a lot of things like traffic, any inclines, passener & cargo etc.

Typical daily drive to work for me is 10 miles. Mix of motorway and urban. Can get anything from 32avg to 40avg on this one way trip depending on traffic volume. That would be mainly 'sensible' driving, but will include some high rev fun factor on occassion
