Passenger window issue

I unlock the car as normal in the mornings and the windows drop as usual. Now when I get in and close the driver door, the passenger window usually moves back up after a couple of seconds or even before I reach the 15mph needed for the central locking to kick in. But the last couple of days the window seems to only move up once the central locking has kicked in. Also as well sometimes I close the passenger door and it doesn't slide up and I need to reopen/shut it again for it to do so.

Any ideas??? :?

Has the window stuck recently i.e in the snow? if so when you get in the car start the engine and then use the one touch buttons to put the window down and then the one touch to bring it back up. Now turn off the ignition get out lock / unlock the car and see what happens.

I was about to suggest a reset, a VCDS check might show something, I would pop it into the dealers

I will try that this weekend. The windows have dropped pretty well in the cold weather. There has only been the one occasion before xmas when they were stuck but since then its been good. I don't mind but bit wary there maybe an occasion where I lock up and it doesn't slide up.

VCDS I do myself LOL, sorry what I wrote was confusing, I meant try a VCDS check and see what it brings up, but if you don't have access to it then go to a dealer, your dealer shouldn't charge anything to look at the car, it's got 3 years warranty.

Not sure this applies to yours, as yours seem to roll up the windows once you turn on the ignition though.
On mine, when I had this happen, it was the outer door handle that didn't "close" fully.
Melted snow had frozen to ice and left the door handle in a limbo state where the switch in the handle didn't operate as intended.
The car thought the door was open, and because of that, didn't roll the window up.
Later on when checking with VCDS I found these error codes.
2 Faults Found
00932 - Electric Window Motor; Drivers Side (V147)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation - Intermittent
01816 - Exterior Door Handle Switch in Drivers Door (F272)
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Had similar faults with things frozen (-15'C). Windows wouldn't drop initially despite de-icing. Then they wouldn't fully raise themselves. The stored faults didn't affect window operation afterwards following a resetting as below.

Needed to reset (basic settings) the windows using the ignition on and the window switches..........

- Switch the ignition ON. ( I tend to do it when required with the engine running to up the available voltage.)
- Drop the windows a little way on the controls, then wind up the windows with the controls all the way in one go.
- And without letting go of the switches, continue to hold the "Up" controls for a further couple of seconds.
- Then release the controls and wait a second.
- Select the window controls "Up" again and hold for about 3 to 5 seconds.
- The windows should now operate corrctly again and close on shutting the doors or pressing the keyfob to lock the Scirocco.

Just cleared the fault codes later after the event. Similar returned a second time when the windows were frozen. This time the alarm horn H12 popped up. Separate fault, alarm horn unit replaced under warranty. No faults have returned since.

Sometimes, the on-board diagnostics throws fault codes in sympathy so don't believe the HVAC faults.

Applied VW Lock Oil to the lock mechanism in the rear side of doors as they were just dry plastic, so hope next time, the locks won't be iced up. Icing was partly due to using luke warm water to defrost the window seals and then freezing run-off entering the door lock itself in the side rear panel.
