can anyone tell me what they have paid/i should be paying for the first service on my 09 1.4 tsi?
its on the long life service schedule which told me a service is due now, basically my car has 10100 miles on the clock. I have rang Pulman volkswagen in durham and they quoted me £196 which apparently includes a litre of top up oil and a pollen filter change. This seems bloody expensive to me!!
advice appreciated thanks

Paid £102 in mid November. Inspections, oil & oil filter. Standard service
Basically 1 hours @ £50 labour plus oil & parts at £52. Oil's the same as long life standard they use - Shell HELIX ULTRA AV-L 5W30.
Pollen filter is not part of the standard 1st service. They are adding it cos of the time since new (2 years its normally changed at). Add £15 for pollen filter part plus 15 mins labour ~ £15.
Spare Oil pack 1 ltr - allow £16
Allow an extra 30 mins to 1 hour for long life inspections £25 to £50.
Total: £173 to £198.

First service was £100 on my edition 30, second was about the same, shop around and get quotes and go back to them and get them to match, this was not on longlife which i would not bother with as the extra cost of the service doesn't make it worthwhile in my eyes plus the high power engines really should not be on LL imo.

I'll also raise....... why is your "09" Scirocco a on Long Life servicing regime when it has been covering only low mileage. It would be better on a standard servicing regime and the oil changed out annually.
My experience with the 1.4TSi doing only 8,000 a year is to do my own oil change halfway at the +6 month interval or +4,000 mile point from now on. The oil I had changed in November was filthy after one year's use.

FYI, the majority of VW dealers now use longlife oil even for cars on time & distance

If you don't need the top-up oil, ask them to knock it off your bill. Mine is still unopened as my Roc hasn't used any oil.
Are you paying too much because of branch? Maybe the prestigious Durham postcode will cost you more than Sunderland's own branch. I've always found Pulman Sunderland far cheaper than Benfield Newcastle - last car was a 170TDI Golf and that was £146 for 1st longlife service 2 years ago with Pulman Sunderland - Benfield wanted £199.
Get a price from the Sunderland branch, and if it's cheaper than Durham, ask Durham to price match,

Thought I'd resurrect this post.
My 1.4 TSI DSG 160 is due for it's first service any time soon. Just over 17,000 mile on the clock, Long Life schedule set at factory, and will be two years old early November.
Started ringing round dealers in my area. Here is a list of quotations:
VW Warrington £212 inc vat
VW Gilbert Lawton Altrincham £201 inc vat
VW Dane Motors Chester £192 inc vat
Do they seem pretty high to you guys? Not much I can do about it as it will need a dealer service.
Can anybody recommend another stealer in the NW area who maybe cheaper?
Thanks
Gaz

UPDATE:
Following the advice from Mr. RW1 I got the cheapest quote yet for a first service from VW Hyde - £180 inc vat.
Will use that price to try and play the other dealers off against each other.

2nd service (24 months - Interval Service) just done at the dealers this morning. They started off at £170 when booking in 3 weeks ago. Paid £120 today.

(I did knock the Pollen Filter change of the "to do" list as thats a 5 minute job at home. No injector cleaner was used.)

Just had the 3rd year Service today - Oil & Filter, Brake Fluid, Aircon & MoT.
Cost £303 inc, VAT. Was originally quoted £340.
Oil/Filter/Detail Inspections £161
Brake Fluid & Aircon combined £99
MoT £39
Screenwash £4
No ECU update, still 24s4 issue 1. No DSG update as per 37G7.
Fitted airfilter, pollen filter and new spark plugs myself (none are the 3 year service point).
Can't believe 3 years has flown by.
