I was blocked in by my sisters 2.0 TSI the other day, rather than play musical cars I just took it. Very simular to mine except;
I get about 10mpg more on my sisters than mine. The Rocco R feels more than 60bhp more powerfull than the 210hp TSI.
Sis is on 18 and I have to say the ride in the GT is not as harsh as the R (but that could be my 19" adding to the firmer suspension)

But the one thing I did not like at all on the GT were the Brakes, they are awefull. Very Grabby sorta on or off, where as the R has a nice progressive breaking feel.

I recently changed my GT 210 for an R...certainly notice the extra power in the mid-range. The GT was pretty good off the line. and couldn't agree more on the brakes. In my GT someone pulled out in front of me from a side road so had to apply the brakes damm quickly, and the brakes grabbed to fully engage the ABS and even so the tyres skidded/scuffed the tarmac in a rather unsettling manner. I had a car with virtually unassisted brakes before this and seems I could do a much better job myself on the middle pedal.

With hard braking in the R, and the results were vastly improved, and when more braking is needed the pedal has more travel, without grabbing and piling in some ABS at the slightest opportunity...

Also the Gt seems to lurch more and back goes light, whereas the R stays hunkered down...

Would like to drive an R. The brakes on GT are bit grabby, but its just a case of getting use to the shorter travel. Although okay for road, I dont like them. They suck on circuit, mine screech a bit and pads stick to discs after short journey.

Gonna try set of Ferodo DS2500 pads and see what difference it makes regarding above. Cant say that the back end of the GT goes light though, havent had anything like that. Found you can really lean on the car in corners.

are the GT brakes just over servo'd???

Can't say my GTI was grabby,..but once upgraded to the R32/S3 345mm set up it sure did grab a bit at top of pedal!!

Maybe the servo systems between GT and the R is different then?

The Edition 30 were a bit grabby but that was not really the problem, the issue was fade, if you gave it the slightest bit of beans they just felt like they didnt work anymore !!

Yeah, I found once they where quite warm, they'd last a lap at brands before you could feel them loosing their bite. I had rumble on my right front, complete system over heated about 3 times (pedal just disappeared whilst braking), and not far off being on fire after a 30min track session. Not an issue on the road since, so no lasting damage.

wots the difference in mpg in these 2 then guys as im thinkin of swappin??

reckon about 30-33mpg on GT and 22-26 for R...though my journeys have been quite shortish...

2.0TSI wise... Definitely depends on how you drive, where you drive and other things like weight and tyre pressures and of course if it's modded or not etc.

I get around 31.5MPG in mine which involves motorway driving for a little over 5 miles and around 25 miles of A roads per day. That's just me in and a few (non engine mods) that may have made the car heavier (I really don't know if they do or not!)

If you are getting mid 30's, you're doing well, low end 30's you're doing normal. Anything under is baffling or your razzing the hell out of it! lol.

Aiiii reckon overall the R can do 30mpg...to get the books "35mpg" u need to be doing a lot of 70mph cruising on the motorway and light footed.

but its a sports car...i bought it to have some fun in. innit.

so my mpg iz kinda irrelevant these days. lucky i av 3 local Shell garages to keep it topped up wiv VPower.
