Kerbed Black Alloy
Hi guys,
Due to some idiot on the road forcing me onto the pavement I unfortunately kerbed my rear passenegr alloy. It's been kerbed in 3 places, 2 smallish surfaces scratches and 1 deeper one which will need a refurb.
Is it possible to refurb black alloys to look as good as new and could you advise good places which do a good job for smallish amounts? Also how long does a refurb take?
I work from 3 places, Harrow, Cheltenham and Reading so I do have a good scope look around.
Thanks n advance
(i'll try the search but I was hoping people would see a new thread and post more)

I went to the Fareham branch, they did a fantastic job on my Scirocco's alloy. It was a silver alloy but they have a very good reputation and I am sure they could tackle a black wheel. Mine looked as good as new once refurbed.
Cost around £90-£100 for one alloy refurb - This was a complete refurb as opposed to a localised repair. Took one day (car dropped off in morning, they put the space saver on for me so I could drive that day, then returned at end of the day to collect car). They have a branch in Enfield (North London).

Thanks IAmbu, I will give them a ring and let you know how it goes. It's not the first time I heard the wheel specialists were good.

£30?, which firm did you use?
Is it in Yorkshire though?
Has anyone heard of alloygators, will they work on Talladegas?

Are those the plastic things that clip onto the rim to protect from kerbing? If it is I've seen pics and quite frankly I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.ayc1985 wrote: Has anyone heard of alloygators, will they work on Talladegas?
Edit: Just googled them and I have seen them before
Why oh why do that to an M3??
Lepsons in Swindon are also very good for re-furbs, I'd happily recommend them from personal experience.

Re: Kerbed Black Alloy
If you are quoted £30-£80 (approx) that will most likely be for a localized repair/refurb of the wheel, where only the area of damage and immediate surrounding area is tackled. A complete refurb like I had done by thewheelspecialist involves sandblasting the entire wheel back to the alloy, and refurbing every surface (once any damage has been filled in). This ensures any damaged exposed alloy metal is 100% fixed and protected, meaning any moisture / dirt etc that has ingressed under the paint / lacquer will be fixed.
I've also heard very good things about Lepsons.

Re: Kerbed Black Alloy
Lepsons charged £300 for a full refurb on the Audi 19" RS4 style alloys. This included dipping the wheels to remove all the old flaky paint, apparently they found a crack which they repaired, all in all the wheels were a complete mess when dropped off.
If I remember they had them about a week in total but the transformation was amazing.

Re: Kerbed Black Alloy
Oh btw guys I had the wheel refurbed by thewheelspecialist in Enfield London, they charged £66 and fitted my black alloygators on too!. Top job and looks as good as new.
Will post pics of the alloygators soon too.
The alloygators make the rims look a bit bigger too.
