Car Collection Query
Car Collection Query
Hi,
I'll be picking up my car 2moro but will be travelling from Glasgow to Carlisle where the car is being driven over from Birmingham.
My only concern is I won't be able to check the car for any scratches and dents on it with the snow on it.
What would be the best way to remove the snow safely from car without paint damage to make sure the car is ok.
Thanks.

Re: Car Collection Query
That is a tricky one mate. Is the dealer/supplier proposing to have it all washed and nice an clean for you when you collect it, otherwise it may be a bit dirty after then drive and not just snow?
My dealer, and assume most others, had mine indoors where i could check it over.
I would call them and check, and also check it i will be there tomorrow too, especially with the weather.

Its gonna be driven from dealership based in birmingham to Carlisle will be meeting the driver in Carlisle so yes it will be dirty with the snow!
I think it should be ok, or maybe take it for a quick car wash when the driver arrives to make sure car is at should be.

Re: Car Collection Query
If you want the paintwork to remain good with no swirl marks / faint scratches, never subject it to automatic car washes or hand car washes for that matter, only trust yourself with a decent wash mitt (no sponges). Having said that, you can almost get away with it with a white car...shyne112 wrote:Its gonna be driven from dealership based in birmingham to Carlisle will be meeting the driver in Carlisle so yes it will be dirty with the snow!

I'd be more wary of it reaching Carlisle from Birmingham based on the weather!

Re: Car Collection Query
Thinking about it, for me anyway, i would prefer to drive it from Brum to Glasgow myself!
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!
Re: Car Collection Query
Fingers crossed all should be ok!
Any tips on main things to check when getting the car? I know there is already a post about this, but for my situation any suggestions would be great.
Thanks.

most of the points in the delivery checklist so just check what you can (even collecting from the dealer people are usually too excited to remember most of it), the most important for you will be number 5 due the circumstances (obviously substitute rain for snow/slush/journey dirt)
basically check the options you ordered are present along with necessary cables (ipod & usb), manuals & service book present, locking wheel nut key with spacesaver spare in boot I think those are the main that you can do at the roadside & then carefully clean when you get home & check panel alignment and bodywork then.
Good luck & pics as soon as you get back

Re: Car Collection Query
Managed to make it to Glasgow in one piece. Absolute stunning car. Will be posting pics very soon.
I have never washed a car myself. I would just like to carry out basic wash myself every so often and maybe wax a few times a year would this be sufficient? Also what equipment would I need?
Thanks.

Congrats on the new Roc ! Take a look at the detailing section. There is a wealth of info on there. From the basic to the obsessive
