I had the same problem as you, the rns worked fine but I had no display on the mfd, mine was a version B that I had had fitted in my original Golf mk 6 so I saved it and put it into the Scirocco, now works just fine (£20 to sort it).

Hi people I managed to programme my rns510 with car the guy who did it said the microphone in built the car is enabled. But the star button when pressed doesn't pick up my voice at all. Keeps saying pardon pardon. And the voice control on my steering only works with bluetooth phone.
I really want this feature tovwork. Any ideas. If it's Vagcom I can tell the guy (Paul in Manchester) who did it for me to have a look. Thanks

Did you have a microphone before the install ?, i.e bluetooth ?, did he programme new RNS for microphone ?, and after this did he reboot the unit

Yeah he said the microphone was already enabled the other option was to disable it.
He reset it by holding arrow keys and eject and something else vi think
Still no look no voice is recognised
So annoying. What could it be

There are two parts to program, did he do both ?, he needs to click Microphone diagnostics active (tick in box), then he needs to deselect voice control inactive (no tick in box), think its byte 3 & 7 respectively in 37 navigation)
PS, i assume you mean the star button on the RNS510

I'm not sure he did that. Is that all he does then enables the microphone again?

yes, unless the steering wheel controls need doing also, after any changes he needs to reboot too, sometimes it doesnt take for no apparent reason too, so worth re doing

I am not sure on the Scirocco steering controls, but this is from the mk5 Golf instructions, it will give you an idea
If you car is fitted with the Multi Function Steering Wheel you can modify the mute button (* on the VW models) to activate the voice feature. This will not work if you have the Skoda car kit as this uses the mute buttone (*) for it’s voice dialling, no workaround has been found at this time so use the top right hand button adjacant to the dvd slot to active the feature.
Controller 16 – Steering
Select Coding 07 and you should see a 7 digit softcode which will be in the format 00xxxxx
The 4th digit from the right corresponds to the steering wheel variant. If you have a 4 spoke Multi Function Steering Wheel without the Cruise Control buttons it should be a 2. Change this to a 3 and that should convert your Mute button to activate the Voice Dialling.

Does your bluetooth kit work? If so then all it means is that you need to run 2 more wires from the mic out on the RNS510 to the bluetooth module.
Although you have bluetooth and an RNS capable of voice control you don't automatically get it? You need the extra wires for the RNS, mic in and mic out.

Hi yeah I done that. But now the button on steering wheel doesn't control rns. Has a seperate phone command. How do I get the buttons to work in sync with the voice control?
