Order Delayed!!

Post by suli_din »

I have been been sent an email by my car leasing company, I have ordered my car since beginning of September:

Dear Customer,

As you may be aware from our previous emails, we are currently experiencing long delays with all of our VW orders placed from July onwards.

VW have informed us this week, that all vehicles on order will now be built with the new Blue Motion Technology engines, hence the delay in build. They have now stopped production of the current engine and will be upgrading all of the engines to the above. Your vehicle (WHEN IT ARRIVES) will have the new more fuel efficient lower C02 engines, which means that you will get much better fuel economy combined with the same power. The engines have the stop start facility as standard, and for company car users the lower C02 emissions will result in lower car tax.

VW have informed us that they will not commence build on this upgraded engine until week 45 (Week commencing 8th of Nov), once VW start production of the new engine customers will be allocated a build week, from that date onwards, although there is a large back log. Realistically we don’t expect to see any of these vehicles with yourselves, until Jan/Feb next year.

Once a vehicle is allocated a build week, from the date of the build week the delivery date to customer is generally 4 weeks. Until a vehicle is allocated a build week, we cannot give customers an accurate lead time, as the orders are just effectively sitting in a queue.

I appreciate this may cause huge problems for some of you, and we apologise about the delay, however as I am sure you can appreciate this delay lies with VW and not ourselves, as the lead times given to yourselves when placing your order were the lead times offered from VW at the time. Due to the popularity of the deal this has resulting in VW taking far more orders for these models than anticipated.

If anyone else has been told this information or had similar longer delays for their build dates, any further feedback will be much appreciated

Thanks

I'm in the same situation but what can you do?

I'm about 5 weeks in since I signed, current lead times for other cars are around 10 weeks - So it would be around the end of the year anyway. I'd just wait it out & whine like a bitch in hope of freebies & cheaper running costs

Luckily my current lease isn't due back until 1st week Feb. I thought I was ordering too early bit was told I could delay delivery until January...getting worried it won't arrive before the other goes back now!

I'm just surprised at the stories about orders into May for R's and dealerscselling stock carscat discountveven tho factory cars are delayed...weird way to sell cars!

Given there are a limited reange of engines, specs & options I'd hate to see how they would perform with an option list like BMW...my other 1/2's car is up for change in July, she fancied an Eos, if so she should think about ordering one now!

One upside, may have to wait those extra few weeks and the new reg!

I found myself in a similar situation when getting my Scirocco earlier this year. The dealer who the contract hire company ordered the car with cocked up the order and weren't prepared to put themselves out to make amends and were quoting, I think, 3-4 months after I'd already waited 5 months. I contacted a few of those sites that reckon they will find the cheapest car, except I asked them to find the earliest delivery instead of the cheapest price. Within the day a dealer contacted me to say they could do 7-8 weeks - I called the contract hire company and asked them to use said dealer.
