Hi People,

Anyone got the best means of removing the sticky residue left by a dealers sticker that has been placed across the rear window heater elements.
Fed up with there name plastered on number plates, next sercice due on windscreen, tax disc holder and aforementioned rear window.
Hav'nt done it yet but I can tell it's not going to come off without a fight!!

Cheers. Andy.

PS, I'm new to this so if it has been previously posted, please point me in the right direction.

perfect choice on the section Andy.

If you want to attempt to remove it I would suggest damping it something very mild, glass cleaner (not an astrigent type) or a cloth damped with water and then seeing how much can be peeled/soaked off but...
I can't recall the page but in the manual it does state "do NOT cover the heater elements of the rear screen with stickers" (or words to that effect) may I suggest you locate the page & next time you are in the dealers (I assume your local dealer was the one who supplied the car to you) indicate the page & ask them to follow their own advice and remove it pronto then should there be any issues with the heated elements after removal of it (would hope there wasn't) they can't say it was anything you did and dispute any problem.

Hope that makes sense

S

Thanks for the reply. Dealer is 300 mile round trip due to being a company car so a bit of a pain (could be a nice runout though). I did wonder if applying a small amount of heat might make it easier to peel. Just don't want to end up with a black sticky mess (or worse!!).

Definitely apply heat. Lots of it!! Heat the sticker up from the outside (through the glass) with a hairdryer on it's hottest setting, nice and close to the glass, and the sticker will become very easy to remove once the adhesive has been destroyed. Clean any remaining residue off with a cloth / kitchen roll, and white spirit or glass cleaner. I used that method on my Scirocco

WD40 works quite well for the sticky stuff if you have nothing else
