I should probably try an iPad forum for the answer to this question but figured id ask here first.

I am going to the US and plan to pick an iPad up there.

Are there any compatibility issues when bringing it back from the states and using it in the UK with UK iTunes etc?

I had bought one from US and it was working fine (in Greece) and the 3g feature. So i guess it will have no problem in the UK.

You'll probably have to buy a UK Power Lead, might out weigh the saving, how much are you expecting to save?

It charges off a Dock connector lead so you can use an iPhone charger if you have an iPhone.

You'll have no probs with a US one.

An adapter plug should work ok on the US power cable or as iAmbu says, any other apple product charger should be ok.

I have an iPhone 4 so with regards to power leads thats sorted.

The cost of a 32Gb Wifi version in the UK is £499.00.
The cost of a 32Gb Wifi version in the US is £379.00 (Based on todays exchange rate of 1.5793)

The iPad charger is specific to the iPad it's a 10 watt charger as the battery is significantly larger than the iPhone , other apple chargers will work and it still charges when connected to your computer but it literally takes twice as long to charge it.Another thing to consider is the warranty, apple warranty is only valid in the country of purchase and they would check the serial number if you need to take it in to a apple store if it develops any problems as it will be linked to the store which you purchased it from. The saving your making won't be as large as you would think, US prices advertised don't have to include sales tax which varies from state to state so for example new york is 9% so that would be added to the advertised price when you take it to the checkout.

So iPad2 was revealed last night.

The new tablet will have an A5 dual-core processor that Jobs says offers as much as twice the CPU performance. The graphics will be “9x faster” while using the same power as the processor from the first iPad.
iPad 2 will have front and rear cameras
It will have a gyroscope
Available in black and white
Thinner than the iPhone 4: 8.8mm compared to iPad1’s 13.4mm and iPhones 9.3mm thickness
Lighter than iPad: 1.3 pounds, down from 1.5 pounds
10 hour battery life will remain
Pricing is the same as the iPad
HDMI out accessory is available for $39
Smart covers are magnetic bendable covers for iPad 2
It will be available on Verizon and AT&T
Available in more countries March 25
FaceTime video chat will be included

I'm not totally sure ipad2 will sell as well as v1. I think most people who already have v1 will think it doesn't really give them anything worth updating for. I certainly don't. I think they're mostly after more storage, higher screen resolution and maybe some sort of USB-like connectivity (although personally I don't see a need for the latter). iPad 3 should provide that so I suspect many will hold off for a year. In that time the other makers tablets will have had a better chance to advance a bit so apple will want to trounce them with killer specs. Ultimately though the other tablets won't win because there's no core baseline spec for developers to work on. They all have different chip speeds and RAM and screen sizes. Why mess about developing for all of that when the iPad has one size and one spec for everything.

Oh and iOS4.3....

Apple announced today during their iPad 2 keynote, that iOS 4.3 will be arriving on March 11th with a number of new features. iOS 4.3 includes a faster Safari browser, iTunes Home Sharing, AirPLay enhancements, iPad side switch preference (rotate or mute), and the Personal Hotspot feature for iPhone 4.

The new features are detailed here:

- Faster Safari - The Nitro JavaScript engine that Apple pioneered on the desktop is now built into WebKit, the technology at the heart of Safari, and more than doubles the performance of JavaScript execution using just-in-time compilation.
- iTunes Home Sharing - allows iOS 4.3 users to play music, movies and TV shows on an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch® from their iTunes library on a Mac® or PC over a local Wi-Fi network.
- Enhancements to AirPlay - With iOS 4.3 you can stream additional content including video from third party apps and web sites, videos from the Photos app and previews from the iTunes app to your TV
- Personal Hotspot - This feature in iOS 4.3 lets you bring Wi-Fi with you anywhere you go, by allowing you to share an iPhone 4 cellular data connection with up to five devices in a combination of up to three Wi-Fi, three Bluetooth and one USB device.

iOS 4.3 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 GSM, 3rd Gen iPod Touch, 4th Gen iPod Touch, iPad, and iPad 2. It will be available for download starting on March 11th.
