RCS is a noob's spellingnof RNS.

The satnav doesn't seem to work unless the DVD is in. How can I tell whether there is a hard disk or not?

If you have a RNS510 then it has HDD. If you have it then when you put in the maps' DVD it will ask to copy the maps or not. If you select yes then it will copy them to the HDD and you'll not need the DVD anymore.

Yep, it's a lease car and I think the leasing company just left that bit to me. Thanks for that.

Is this different from the hard disk used to copy media on to, or is it the same hard disk? I can't find any copying facilities.

its the same HD, take the disc out an put it in, it should ask you if you want to save it to the HD, have you actually tried nav without the disc in ?

PS when its installing properly pressing the eject button should show a progress bar

Sorry didn't make myself clear. I've copied the map disc on and can now use the maps without the disc. What I can't find is a way of copying media files on to it.
