Rasping Noise 2200 - 2800rpm

I've got the 2.0 TSI, delivered just before xmas. I've noticed this rasping noise which develops at about 2200 rpm under acceleration, and then ebbs away as the revs hit about 2800. Does anyone else hear this, and is it something I need to be worried about?
It sounds like it is coming from under the bonnet, so is it exhaust manifold? turbo? Or just a characteristic of the engine?

Not sure if mine has the same noise but i get some turbo noise at those revs, more on a light throttle i can hear the turbo spinning up that kind of goes when you prod the throttle a little more. I'm still running mine in and haven't had it too long so i'm not totally familiar with all it's noises. It sounds nice though.

It is the water-pump..... it is completely normal..... you can hear it between 2200-2800rpm and only when you press hard the throttle

I had this and it has now gone since I played with the heat shield on the exhaust.
It rattles at certain revs.
Just go under the car and bend it a little.
Problem solved.
My last car did it too.
