Potential Refueling Issue?

I was refuelling my Roc (for the first time) at BP earlier today.

I noticed that every 5 litres or so the pump would stop ("click") as it does when the tank is full.

I did notice the fuel was being delivered very quickly and just wonder whether the roc couldnt get the fuel down the pipe as quickly as it was being delivered or whether it may be a wider issue?

Before i call the dealer i just wondered whether this is a common problem or may just be a one off?

I was filling up with BP Ultimate Diesel and have 170 TDi Roc.

Crap pump, I have that issue with my Boxster a 2 Tesco filling stations, no problems at any other. Never any issues with the Rocco, could be the pump was set to high flow for HGVs, the Shell station where I've just filled up has a button for high flow HGV tanks.

No problems refuelling my 'Roc at Jet, BP etc. On the family Touran and our Beetle, occasional pump cut-off "click" due to speed of flow overwhelming the tubing to the tank (as you described). My solution is to try and turn the pump head so that the filler nozzle is not pointing "straight down" but more like "down and forward".

I won't use supermarket fuel at present. One of my clients owns a filling station and has talked at length about the differences between supermarket fuel and "branded". Apparently, the main juice all comes from the same big tank at a central depot (like Plymouth) but the supermarket delivery drivers do not possess a swipe card with which to add the detergents etc that are advertised in the branded fuels. (The voices in my head also tell me that fuel economy from supermarket fuel has not been so good in the past)

OK, I am now waiting for a Scirocco driver who is a tanker driver by day and knows a lot more than I've been told........

Have this a lot at certain stations..... over sensitive 'tank full' pressure sensor. If put the nozzle at a slight angle rather than straight into the filler neck, it should be fine
